"modern roblox has a problem" water found in an ocean

I don't think it's crazy to say that a large amount of predators on Roblox nowadays were once the same kids playing condo games back then

One thing that I absolutely hate is that if you say that you play Roblox to legit anyone over the age of like 7 they think your an absolute freak and a baby, when there are actually good games still on there.

The issue with modern Roblox is 2 things really:

1: obsession with creating old Roblox games just for the sake of recreating old Roblox style, without the actual fun factor(created the whole “retro slop” thing)

2: creators forced to make games for money to get a profit from making a game, when back then the objective for a creator was to make a unique game that’s fun, but also fits within the restrictions of Roblox’s physic engine.

It’s to also note the shift from physics sandbox focused games where buildings explode, rocket launches, and tycoons dropping parts on a conveyor belt. And now the games are based on concepts proven to gain profit.
There is no issue with the engine, (besides the code changing, killing older games) the new engine allows for more art styles and types of games. The issue is the management that is ruining Roblox, and the social media driven (80hrs screen time weekly margin) community obsessed over shitting on “slop” and trendy games, instead of just playing games for the sake of playing them.

Honestly man, everything went downhill when 2020 hit, Roblox just got 100 times worse because of private equity

roblox was a simple platform with simple games with great gameplay
that was the platform

Classic Roblox is only more “safe” because there it was more limited and less popular but it’s also a internet thing as well as classic Roblox and the internet in general were less connected with each other.

modern roblox is more open about protecting predators

Roblox used to be a fun gaming platform but now it’s called “metaverse” and also games are “experiences”

This is probably the best Point of view about the "Transformation of the platform", when in reality thats just the trade-off of the Community expanding to other communities and apps.

4:34 CATS! I’M A KITTY CAT, AND I DANCE, DANCE, DANCE AND I DANCE, DANCE, DANCE lol. I remember loving the Pokémon battle floor and just wanting to be picked. Also the Sharknado.

I think the main thing with modern roblox as well, is the fact that a lot of creators are just stealing from developers on steam or else where, because they know they can make a quick buck out of it without getting punished for it.

0:15 or maybe it represents the pandemic

Been playing since 2011 and I would say that Roblox as a platform peaked from 2014 to 2016. In that period you had a perfect mixture of community, fun and well actually made games, and the last years of that 'classic' Roblox identity. Around 2018-2019 it all started to crumble and it's been down hill since.

I really hate how the developers abused the “retro-slop” style.
All of the games had a style, such as frozen souls, but they didn’t empathize that and only looked on the popular side of the community where they mixed the saturated colors and the studs without even caring a single bit about building . It completely makes the view of “old roblox” look so darn boring with no taste to the children.
I really hate how they just watered it down to a trend and something that had no meaning, cause really, old roblox didn’t have the standards we have today. We never really cared about it looking “retro” (mainly because that was the time period) but we just cared because about the “ooo fun game like lego,”and socializing and having just simply.. fun.
now it’s just used for greed and to attract little kids. I may be hypocritical.

this feels like a video essay that would have at the least a few hundred thousand views, great stuff dude

Pre 2020 - games made by kids and teens, for fun
Post 2020- games made by companies, for money

I like how in your video you admit how your not jsut blinded by nostalgia and actually bring up points you haven in enjoying the new games great vid keep it up

loved this vid!!! i agree so hard on all of it. will b sure to check out ur twitch soon ^_^

Very interesting outlook. I always wondered if there was that many bad things on roblox in the 2000s, i was naive as a child and would overlook things so its interesting seeing this perspective. Playing roblox in 06 as a 11yo was somthing else compared to today
