After moving into my current home, I decided the door hardware (a bright, brassy, gold) had to go. I replaced the door knobs, hinges, even door stops with a satin nickel finish. It was a big impact for low cost and minimal work. I am a widow and I replaced the hardware myself so it is an easy DIY.

Your tips are very useful. I have reorganised my modular couch after watching one of your vides and my room looks completely different and wonderful. I always look forward to your calm and kind videos. Thank you

I really enjoy your reminders to layer lighting and use meaningful things. Could you please do a video on storage options? I need floor to ceiling but am having trouble finding options that aren’t either all open or all closed. I’m simply not interested in all open. Part of what needs stored is hundred year old quilts and yoga stuff. You made me realize that a shelf for keys and mail would be spectacular. Thank you for making such nice videos. I wish I could have you over for tea because it feels like we are friends having a weekly chat.

You are a man of your words! You too layered your video beyond basic and technically fine. Your examples added depth, contrast and were characterful.
Thank you for taking the time to source some beautiful, interesting and inspirational visuals to support your explanations.

I’m design impaired 😩 I would love a video on how to layer without cluttering.

Please do more painting tips! This to me makes the biggest impact. I live in a small mid-century home and I love color but I've learned that you have to be careful because if your room has a lot of doors, trim, and windows, colors that contrast with the trim can really chop up the space and make it feel small and disjointed. I use warm white in most of my home but in the places with a lot of cabinets like the main bath and kitchens, I used a bright color because it's really more of an accent in those rooms.

Thank you for how you present things . Even though I am frozen in analysis paralysis ,I would rather have nothing and wait to get it right and slowly do it right and love the end result .

With LED bulbs lighting has become even easier to layer, since battery-powered or rechargeable lights are actually reasonable for accent lighting now.

There are also all kinds of controls you can add - from bulbs with built-in sensors that turn them on when it gets dark to socket extensions that are connected to a sensor you can place elsewhere, and of course all the smart bulbs, but those are more expensive and require an app.

I installed a sconce in my kitchen with a sensor and a nice warm 1.5 Watt bulb. It's now a beautiful night light that turns itself on for me each evening or on stormy days. It feels so luxurious and cost so little.
