Thanks to Lanterns, the Green Lantern brand is undergoing a resurgence. Everyone is now realizing how cool the Green Lanterns are after the 2011 movie made them the lamest heroes ever. However, they've always been cool, and these two other movies, which released around the theatrical film, prove it.

Mogo's story was based on his introduction story in the comics where Bolphunga looks for him only later realises he's the planet. It's not really a mystery, rather an adaptation of his first story (a story by Alan Moore by the way).

Fun fact: that Mogo story was written by Alan Moore

9:04 when yellow was first introduced they didn’t know about the spectrum yet so it kinda fits that they just call it yellow energy and not fear

Not just the movies, I fell in love wth green lantern while watching the animated series. I absolutely loved the world they introduced

I actually like the design of the power rings in these films. They feel more realistic as to what an actual power ring would look like. Not saying the live action version are bad but they look like little effort was given in designing them

If I had to pick something animated and Green Lantern I would definitely go for Green Lantern the Animated Series.
Stellar voice casting and it does a great job of building the greater universe of the emotional spectrum.

I must agree with incorporating the emotional spectrum into First Flight cause in a way it sells the 'heroic space cop' summary a lot more where the obvious bad route for such an organization to go would be to enforce through Fear, a naturally stronger impulse than will but not the right emotion to feel or carry out with that authority.

I think the reason Hal isn't more talkative in First Flight because Chris Melonie probably cost a lot due to how popular He was as Elliot Stabler on Law and Order SUV.
For instance NBC was fighting tooth and nail to keep him contractly bound when he wanted to play in Man of Steel.

Sinestro is absolutely cracked in the comics. I'd recommend checking out the Sinestro Corps War by Johns and the Sinestro run by Bunn starting with Volume 1 The Demon Within. He's genuinely my favorite DC Villain and as far I'm concerned he'll always be the greatest Lantern to ever exist.

Mogo doesn’t socialize from Emerald Knights was one of my favorite movie moments as a kid. I might even like it more than the comic it directly adapts. The additions to the comic go a long way into building the story into a longer segment. The original is super short

Who would have thought that Green Lantern would make a massive comeback 15 years after its less than pleasant film adaptation.

Im glad people are finding this movie again its always been a favorite

Its kinda wild to me though a small thing is that all the female Green Lanterns are showing skin yet the males are all covered. Either have the males show skin too or just have female Lanterns covered. As a side note, do they choose what their suits look like or is that what the ring does?

I literally rewatched First Flight to prep for Lanterns and man that movie is so good especially as a introduction to the GL side of the universe

@Girder3 3 days ago

Man, I haven't seen these movies since they came out. Thanks for revisiting them!

@1606jack 3 days ago

Sinestros first ring was just a yellow willpower ring so they may have been going for that or it came out before the emotional spectrum stuff was fully fleshed out

TAKE MY WIFES NAME OUT OF YOUR MOUTH

Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps by Venditti was GOATED. The mid New 52 after John's left had its downs and ups (God head and Lights Out were very good) but the last few issues of Renegade and its follow up in 2016 with HJ&GLC was magnificent
