Ha! I knew you were going to start with this one. Call it a hunch. Vangelis brought you here. 😊

The vocals you heard at 25:30 is Demis Roussos, you remember him from Aphrodite’s Child when you reviewed their album “666.” The track on the soundtrack is “Tales of the Future.”

Good film to start with, one of the best sci-fi movies ever.

Justin, the recent sequel, Blade Runner 2049, by Dennis Villeneuve, is a must see. It really works amazingly well.

This is an excellent Cyberpunk/Sci-Fi/ Neo Noir film, everything about this is superb, the direction, the camera work, the score, the acting. I'm so glad that you enjoyed it and understood it too, not everyone does, Justin.
This was released in 1982 and it stands the test of time, this is why the sequel "Blade Runner: 2049" was made so many years later, I really hope that you do react to the sequel as well.

Fantastic film & reaction JP

Joanna Cassidy “Zora” used her own pet snake on set.

Fun fact: Joanna Cassidy reshot portions of her death and chase sequence 25 years later for Blade Runner: The Final Cut released in 2007. She put her original clear vinyl costume back on to film green-screen replacement elements so her face could be digitally composited over her stunt double crashing through the store windows, fixing visible wires, and correcting continuity details.

Princess bride, labyrinth, the Dark Crystal ??

Great reaction to one of my favorite films of all time. You nailed everything I love about it: the score, the atmosphere and world-building, all the little details. Between this and '79's Alien, Ridley Scott really cemented a "grimy, lived-in" futuristic atmosphere that nobody else has ever been able to replicate (though I'd grant that the "Alient - Isolation" game gets closest). Anyway, definitely recommend the very worthy 2049 sequel, which is beautiful in other ways.

Love that you selected this one to dive into movies. The Tears in the Rain speech at the end is improvised by Rutger Hauer. Absolutely beautiful.  Reportedly the script was too long.  Sci-fi has always been a genre for making current social commentary.

58:55 - Doves are Pigeons.  They are the same bird. (Pigeons are rock doves)

The only sci fi movie I really liked throughout.

36:00 -- The reason Deckard bars Rachel from fleeing into the night is that, as a runaway replicant, his apartment is the only safe place for her. Her reluctance to engage in sex is explained by her poignant line "I can't rely on my..." meaning that, just as with her piano playing, she doesn't know if she has real experience or just false memories. Ridley Scott went for a heavy-handed approach to a scene that could've been done much more deftly.  As for Rachel's termination date, I tend to go with the theatrical version's assertion that she doesn't have one. Why would Tyrell Corporation go to the trouble of "gifting" such an advanced model with memories in order to soften the shock of developing emotions, only to give her a limited lifespan like the others?

Right---Now you have to look at the lyrics to "Me! I Disconnect From You" (1979), the opening to "Call Out the Dogs" (1985), watch the video to "New Thing From London Town" (1986) and listen to "Time to Die" (1986), all by Gary Numan. (Love the real thunder in the background, by the way! Very timely! ☺)

You gotta watch 1982 original theatrical version, 1992 Director’s Cut and the documentary Dangerous Days: The making of Blade Runner. And why Harrison Ford hated making this movie and almost punched Ridley Scott during filming.

I wish I'd known sooner you posted this 3 weeks ago, it's my favorite film. You did a great job picking up on thins like the unicorn vision Deckard had while awake, is it an implanted memory? Is he questioning the reality of it?
You're right about Roy and Pris playing, they're 4 year olds in adult bodies. They feel it's unfair to live only 4 years and that as slaves. They're aren't artificial, just created artificially. Poor Rachael thought she was human, then has her world ripped apart when she discovers she's a replicant.
If you do watch the 2nd film be sure to watch the 3 short films made to accompany it. You also might want to watch the theatrical version of the 1982 "Blade Runner" which does add information in a voice over.

For the record, when it comes to reactions, I'm perfectly fine with Closed Captions as it helps with character names and places.
When this came out, my friends and I saw this at least 6 times in the theater, it was that amazing.

"uh-geer-a," with the accent on the second syllable. Can't really go wrong with anything from Kubrick or Herzog. The book is very different from the movie, but well worth the read. Phil Dick was a genius.
My only criticism of your review is that you didn't include the "Tears in Rain" soliloquy in its entirety. It is one of the most memorable performances in film history.
But between this and "Passion" for your birthday, I'd say you've had a very enjoyable past few weeks. Now you just need to go see Anika Nilles play with Alex and Geddy to complete the "happiness trifecta"! Even if you're not a big Rush fan, she breathes new life into those guys.
Keep up the great work.

What's weird is that Blade Runner released in 1982 took place in 2019 when Roy died at the end. Then the actor who played Roy, Rutger Hauer passed away in real life in 2019

The high resolution blowup of the fish scale(snake) I think is of weed. I found an electron picture in college and did a watercolor of it for scientific illustration class… never said what it was. Tee hee. Every time I see it I remember those days.
