Gettysburg's Reinforcements in the Army of the Potomac

Battle of Gettysburg Podcast

The Battle of Gettysburg Podcast hosts Jim Hessler and Jody Wilson are joined by popular historian Stuart Dempsey to discuss the new reinforcements that were added to the Army of the Potomac on the eve of the Gettysburg battle. While often maligned for their inexperience, these newcomers included many familiar names. We make the compelling case that they might have been the difference between victory and defeat for Meade's army. LIKE and SUBSCRIBE to THE BATTLE OF GETTYSBURG PODCAST!

I admire the fact that no one made an Abercrombie and Fitch joke/reference during the episode. This subject was fascinating. Stu always does a thorough and great job of telling a story.

I would definitely be interested in an episode like this one for the Army of Northern Virginia.

What a great episode on a topic not often covered. Appreciate the attention given to Willard and his regiments. Well done Jim, Jody, and Stu.

My girlfriend and I were fortunate enough to have Stuart as a guide in Gettysburg last May and he was excellent. I remember him saying that he is an 11th Corps loyalist and that was cool as you don’t hear that very often

Excellent, and for me, completely new perspectives and information. Stu organizes the material very logically

Very interesting presentation. I think Stu always gives a very balanced and thought out view and brings receipts in the form of sources. One officer I wish he had mentioned who was a “New Guy” to the AOP- literally snatched from behind a desk is Hannibal Day who commanded the 1st Brigade of the 2nd Division of the 5th Corps. I wondered what Stu’s thoughts on him would be. I remember Wayne Motts mentioning him during the episode on The Regulars. Great presentation as always!

Great episode! Especially enjoyed hearing about Lockwood’s Brigade. Familiar with their monuments on Culp’s Hill but not the story of the men associated with the monuments.
