Why do people still prefer old Call of Duty games?

It's 2026, with yearly call of duty games releasing, yet none of them provide that feeling of the classic call of duty games.
Today I wanted to talk about that and why people (including myself) are still holding onto older call of duty titles such as World at War, Cod4, Black ops 2 and more!

Is it pure nostalgia? Or were these older titles just better?

Thankyou everyone for the support on this video, it’s been great reading through all your comments and hearing your stories with these older titles, genuinely an unmatched time and I’m so grateful to have experienced these older call of duty games in their prime! - got more nostalgia/old era gaming videos inbound! Any ideas you want to see me cover let me know!

Each Call of Duty game in the golden era was creative each time, such a shame to see how it’s gone now.

It’s the soul, you can feel the effort and heart put into old games, the ingenuity to make the game work in spite of tech limitations and the directions for writing and soundtracks being purely art first instead of bait for the next release

Its a mix of nostalgia and people gravitate to games that have love and passion built into the game

With a lot of these older games I think many people, including myself, can subconsciously see or feel the soul and love put into a game from the people who made it(the way they wanted to, not the people above them) It's the difference between "someone had fun making this" vs "someone was being told how this has to be made"

It's simple. You start a war game, you get a war game instead of Sponge Bobs running around with Toy Story weapons.

Idk what it is but there is something in those first 2 cod games that always makes me want to replay them

You don’t need to be a weather man to know when it’s raining outside and you don’t need to be a psychic to know that the new Call of Duty will be lack luster

The old atmospheres just hit different, the gun models hit different……gameplay hits different

The simplicity was the reason . The same happens with fifa today . Back in 2014 if I wanted to play a match, I just choose my team and play, today to be able to go for a match you have to go through 5 pages of micro transactions, notifications, pay to win cards, and a lot of distractions before able to just play, feels like a casino more than a game

Cod World at War is my favorite cod game. I had my friend convinced for a week that the Ray gun would spawn on a map if he kept jumping off the side of it.

Lol as soon as you said some of these games are 20 years old my hip started hurting

honestly because i can play it without adjusting 15 settings , i dont want to play a cracked out speed movement shooter .
i can boot into a game without choosing a meta build that’s a combination of 5 of 40 different attachments.

Honestly BO3+ it went from simple arcade fun into massive power creep where without the easter egg you get bored immedietly.

World at War and MW2 are a mjor chunk of my childhood. Plain and simple. My cousin lived with me and we played EVERY chance we got. Calling in the dogs or getting a nuke. Map knowledge. Gun and attachment preferencs. Zombies. All of it.
