The "Bobby, you're gay" panel might be the most memed on X-Men panel of all time

I always thought a good name for Jean would be Graymatter. It’s both a pun on her name and a reference to her telepathic ability

magneto fucking with the us military for fun is a very quick way of establishing him as an unabashed good guy with questionable methods, like why does he just mess with them instead of more permanently disrupting them?

First issues for comic book characters are funny cause for every amazing fantasy 15 or TMNT 1984 there’s the Hulk being a werewolf or the Kents dropping Kalel off at an orphanage😭

Fun fact: It’s believed that the first ever X-Men retcon is Cyclops’ name. Since they do introduce him as Slim Summers in issue 1, indicating that it was initially his actual full name and then almost immediately being changed to Scott Summers in issue 3 of Uncanny X-Men. After that it’s established to be a nickname from Scott’s childhood. I do love that it seems like he grew out of being Slim because he’s no longer a scrawny little kid, but Logan insists on calling him it once they become friends.

It feels so weird seeing Magneto, one of the most complex and nuanced comic book characters of all time, being a one note villain in his early appearances and that one note being "MUAH HA HA HA HA HAAAAA!"

I love Silver Age Marvel because of how weird it can be to read today. Getting to see your favorite character before they became how you know them today is always interesting. I love how everything invented by Tony Stark was powered by transistors for example.

This is my favorite of your videos yet. Maybe you could make a series reviewing the first issues of popular characters and seeing how theyve evolved

Ah nothing like Silver Age Marvel and all of it's strange choices.

Fantastic Four had a lot of similar problems too.

Where to STOP reading Spider-Man is frankly more crucial for that character.

"Its Fantastic"
From that one Fantastic four movie is somehow a way better way to introduce an iconic superhero team name than this ✌️😭

DMuted, where did Batman being Cyclops’s apprentice come from

Even when the Stan Lee version of the Mutant allegory was more on the nose than ever, Master Mold came to the conclusion that Humans and Mutants are one in the same and both deserve Extinction.

Magneto signing on his magnetic bullet writing is so adorable

Magneto's powers are vast as they are inconsistent

1:43 Jo that‘s actually just a metal pipe magneto threw at him, but it does look like a rocket launcher

I cling to the phrasing of "the first such mutant" so maybe he meant "first mutant with telepathy", but I'm sure that's also retconned in some later issue.

Funny thing I am currently reading the entire original X-men run

Eh, I’ve always had a soft spot for Ice Man’s original look.

I mean it’s basically a Manikin, but with Shoes. I find that, very adorable. I do prefer the later designs for good ol Bobby.
