god i forget how good of a painter murray is

As a kitbasher I really love the lack of detail, because it makes them all feel more like a canvas I can do cool stuff with, but I totally understand why people would want more 😂

What an awesome kitbash, great work guys!

"I know a lot of you don't love the new models"

As someone who eats sleeps and breathes space marines, it wounds me that these words apply to so much of the stuff GW puts out now.

Honestly I just don't like how the new vanguard just looks like a normal jump pack intercessor but with a tabard

Very cool figure build. Love the beaky helmet. The sculpted details were nice, and you did a great job walking people through the process. Murray did a great job painting it up and also explaining why he did things in the order that he did. Also love the tactical rock lore.
The outro editing montage was hysterical.

VANGUARD VETERANS

Dude... Murray is an incredible artist. Wow. the kitbashing and sculpting is also top notch, very well done lads!

Blood angels paint schemes can be inconsistent because artistic expression is very important to them, sadly that cant really be expressed in the sculpts with the bland age we live in, but we can mix up schemes. Without artistic expression they fall to the black rage much quicker.

For all we know primaris marines were "immune" to the black rage, but because they were trained essentially as ultramarines initially rather than the artisans of the blood angels they had no way to fight back against it. But thats just probably me coping with how disappointed ive been with the treatment of blood angels in model kits

The vanguard vets were my favorite old sculpts because of the details and flourish. Seeing so many other Marines with these details still and then the vanguard dropping so much is just sad.

If the actual marines in the box were this level the Armageddon hype would have been 10x

My hope with the new Vanguard kit is that the multi-part kit has a lot of the bits, like the Sternguard has. I think the bodies are well suited for us to customize and add to the veteran bits they have sculpted in already.

Hell yeah. That is a proper Blood Angels Vanguard Veteran.
And the dark moodiness of Murray's painting is beautiful.

Great conversion and paint job. That red is gorgeous.

Great outro / bloopers as well 😂

I most definitely agree with the straps on Jump Packs. It does differentiate them quite a bit from the regular marines.

Really enjoyed this video and the conversation and paint job😊

Love the models and your version. I will say lots of people, especially youtubers, about 2-4 years ago were moaning alot about models being too complicated and cluttered which is when these models would have started their design journey and modelling which has passed in to this model kit.
Really like your idea of adding the shoulder pads detail 😊

Highlighting red with pink, I mean salmon, is a great idea that I will definitely steal for my own project. Thank you for sharing your creativity, always look forward to new uploads.

Murray is definitely a 'trust the process' painter. The 'ugly stage' seems to last almost all the way through, but the result is beautiful.

Geez this new editor is really good! Glad we didn't lose the recording of all that heinous stuff Murray said

Really cool sculpt and paint job.
