"it's an alright wall of China" is the best quote ever.

between Karl and the guy who said he will have heart problems Karl is the best sidekick because Karl once actually predicted Covid 19...it was years ago when Karl said that there would be a global pandemic which is a virus by the year 2020 and he even said that people would social distance each other which of course did happen. You can find this somewhere on YouTube

It says so much about what a decent, good hearted person Karl is that when he’s asked to write down 3 confessions of wrong doing from his past the worst things he can think of is opening a randoms mail, putting putty in a kids hair and stealing candy bars.

This is exactly the type of reaction content that should be encouraged on YouTube. Truly transformative, great job.

There are far too many low effort reaction channels that literally just steal other people's content, offering no insight whatsoever and not even bothering to pause it.

That’s the thing with Karl, some of the things he says you can really relate to or agree with, it just his delivery & the thought process that gets him to it that’s so funny.

The M6 is the UK's longest motorway.

My PE teacher also taught English. In high school we were supposed to learn French, but our teacher took some sick leave and we had a substitute who didn't really speak any language, but she did show us a lot of slides of her visiting Russia and taught us a few Russian words.
We all failed French

You missed the bit at 46:20 when he tells the tree to f*** off. Classic!

Well, the parts of the Great (sorry, the Alright Wall haha) of China you most often see in tourist videos vlogs and such, are the parts repaired like Karl said, north of Beijing, to make it safe for visitors.
The Wall is actually incredibly long, longer than people think, and the big majority of its length is basically crumbling overgrown and neglected like what Karl saw.
That isn’t even where it ends. The Wall is actually 13,000 miles long and peters out into the deserts in the western part of the country but those sections are so remote the ruins are hard to find, and in those areas it’s estimated that some 37 miles worth of the wall will be lost to erosion from desert sandstorms in the next few decades.

Karl eating a packet of pickled onion monster munch in the middle of China is gold 🤣 😂

So happy you started reacting to this, so funny to watch. There are 3 seasons of an idiot abroad. The last season Karl is traveling with a Ewok 😊

26:17 it would be but it’s a bit of a double edged sword kind of situation. It gets rid of the stress and indecisiveness of planning where to go and what to do, but replaces that with the stress of leaving that and your holiday at the mercy of someone else! And it’s Karl’s idea of hell 😂😂. But it does also seem like something different to do for fun and kind of a surprise aswell

When Karl says thar you're supposed to be able to see the great wall from the moon, it wouldn't be possible even with a huge telescope. But I remember there was a news story when I was a lot younger on how it could be seen from the international space station orbiting the earth, with a very modest amount of magnification.

I'm so happy you're finally getting to this, thanks for brightening up my Saturday

you should also listen to those big compilations of fights he was having with stephen merchant in their xfm radio days where he constantly rips on steve

About whether or not the fortunes played out: heart issues are a go-to for “psychics”, because they’re very common. He might very well have had some minor heart disorder, or developed one since.

42:16 😂😂 I remember in primary school we had 1 teacher for everything per year. 9 times out of 10 and occasionally another teacher who specialised in something would come in and run the lesson while the main teacher would be in the background assisting. We had a drama teacher called Mr Fotheringham (his lessons were the best!). We also had a lot of Scottish country dancing lessons, which a lot of us hated and I can’t remember if they took over Gym class (they called it that back then) or if they were separate.

In high school it was different though, we did have a dedicated P.E. department with staff who specialised in it

Great stuff, glad to see you starting on this series. Karl told a story on XFM where someone tried to mug him for his shoes but he refused to hand them over because he’d worked hard to pay for them. The mugger gave up I believe. Probably had enough of Karl moaning at him.

I 100% agree with you Mandy. It would be great if you could go on a holiday where everything is planned and arranged for you and you just can kick back and be a passenger on the trip. The problem with every holiday I’ve ever been on is that it’s a lot of work doing everything yourself and you almost need a holiday to recover from your holiday when you get back.

The mugging thing with Karl is because he grew up on a very rough part of Manchester called Salford..
