🎬 In this FilmSpeak video essay, we discuss Avengers Endgame Encore and how it ruined the ending of the film. I can't believe Marvel did this.

Avengers: Endgame Encore is here, and Marvel Studios may have just made one of its most baffling decisions yet.

The new Avengers: Endgame re-release adds several scenes designed to set up Avengers: Doomsday, Doctor Doom, Loki, the TVA, Hulk, and the growing threat of incursions across the Multiverse Saga. But instead of making Doomsday more exciting, these additions risk undermining what made Endgame such a satisfying conclusion to the Infinity Saga in the first place.

In this video, we break down every new Endgame Encore scene, including Loki interrupting Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter’s ending, Doctor Doom confronting Bruce Banner, the TVA witnessing multiple incursions, and the controversial new Doctor Doom tease that directly mirrors Tony Stark and Iron Man.

More importantly, we discuss what Avengers: Endgame Encore says about Marvel’s increasingly frantic buildup to Avengers: Doomsday, the decision to replace Kang with Doctor Doom, Robert Downey Jr.’s return to the MCU, and Marvel’s attempts to present Doomsday as the natural continuation of a story that seemingly changed dramatically along the way.

Was Avengers: Endgame better left untouched? And is Marvel damaging the legacy of the Infinity Saga just to manufacture excitement for Avengers: Doomsday?

Let’s talk about it.

What did you think of the additional scenes paired with Avengers Endgame Encore? Do you think it ruins the ending of Endgame? Comment below!💥

There's still that old man Steve at the end of Endgame. Whether you think this Doomsday Steve will age into the old man after doomsday, or if u think its a different Steve. That Steve still got to live a happy life with Peggy, it seemed.

Rewatching this in theaters, it reminded me just how perfect Steve's ending was. After the 5 year jump, basically every character had some major change. Tony had a daughter. Hulk became smart hulk. Thor became depressed. Natasha became a workaholic. Clint became Ronin. But Steve stayed mostly the same. In fact the biggest moment of grief we had from him in the film, rather than a result from losing half the people in the universe, was instead looking at Peggy, someone he lost over a decade ago by that point. He already went through the pain of losing everything when he lost Peggy, maybe just as much if not more than the pain he felt losing against Thanos. He was in a world he didn't truly belong in. But he pushed through and fought for the world regardless ever since waking up from the ice. It was the perfect ending for him to get to go back, retire, and live the life he was meant to have. So beautifully done and evans did such a phenomenal job with the acting. And then they just undid it with that ending and ruined it. Not even trying to be subtle at all about it either. Like fuck dude why couldn't they have just used some multiverse variant or some other bullshit. At least that would've been a little better. They're really just undoing everything that made Steve's character arc so perfect because they cant just move on from him.

The rest of endgame encore I really enjoyed. Haven't rewatched the movie in its entirety in a few years and only saw it once in theaters so it was awesome getting to appreciate it and pick up on some small details I somehow never noticed. I will say I think it's incredibly stupid one of the post credit scenes was locked behind the imax/infinity vision paywall. I also didn't mind any of the other credit scenes, nothing too crazy or exciting but not bad by any means. I didn't really even mind the doctor doom tease at the end because we still don't really know what it means and, unlike the changed cap ending, it doesnt feel like they're undoing tony's ending in the movie at least based on those couple of flashes.

Honestly I definitely understand how you feel but I think at this point you're just going to have to wait until the film comes out

@skylaralley2465 6 hours ago

All I’m asking is how is Loki there???? Isn’t he busy holding all of time and the multiverse together??

@RISHIDESAI-f2c 7 hours ago

12:27 wdym, you can literally see the fear and shock on Steve’s face the moment he recognises Loki’s voice

@MarcAquino1095 8 hours ago

Think of it as like the end of Back to the Future Part II when Marty runs up to 1955 Doc Brown after he sent past Marty back to 1985.

@JamesNelsonSmith 5 hours ago

Well we all know it wasn't the plan all along, because that plan would have been, Kang dynasty.

@MrRugby007 4 hours ago

5:55 Greed never cares about a good ending, it cares about milking as much as they can until it's empty unfortunately

@adamgrunther1367 4 hours ago

20:00. Am I the only one who thinks Hulk was at his best in Thor: Ragnarok? It’s literally the only time we’ve seen him as an actual character in the MCU. All other times he’s just a force of nature or Bruce Banner.

@wickdaline8668 8 hours ago

Tony was right. You mess with time, it tends to mess back. That's what Endgame Encore showed.

@astonsin5570 4 hours ago

My man sounded so hopeless over a movie that haven't even come out yet. I've known friends who lost their job, unable to pay rent and had to feed their wife and kids that sounded less defeated than you. Lets all calm down and wait for the movie to release. We can have our theories and doubts about the movie but i choose to hope that there is a chance that the movie might actually turn out good.

@technounionrepresentative4274 4 hours ago

i really hope that the rumors that the story will be cap's fault for staying with peggy are not true,
because it is the one time steve did something for himself,
he threw 70 years of his life away to stop the country from being bombed,
he dismantled one of his safety nets by taking down S.H.I.E.L.D,
he became a man on the run in order to clear his best friend's name,
and after taking an incredible risk in undoing the snap, he was able to retire, to get the woman he loved back, "the war was over" and he could go home, so to speak, it is disappointing if it were the "Bad" thing.
honestly of the 3 heroes who ended their journey at endgame, i think natasha would actually be the character that i think died without a good ending

The fact that they are marketing Doomsday as a sequel to Endgame so hard just makes me think, "Okay, why do I need to see anything from Phase 4 and Phase 5?" Because aside from the Loki show and maybe Fantastic Four, it feels like they are admitting that everything that happened in the past 7 years was a giant waste of time.

@TheOutsiderJess 1 hour ago

The answer as to why this dance got interrupted is by how the Russo saw steve’s ending maybe the ending evolved in their mind and now when kids grow up with the new ending they will get excited seeing how endgame tied to doom

@Alright_imma_headout 7 hours ago (edited)

Honestly I just wanna see doomsday at this point, I just have to see what is going to happen. Love it or hate it the anticipation for this project is immense😭 I just need to see what the hell is going to happen. Like if this movie is good I’ll be so happen they pulled magic to make it work and if it’s bad then oh man it’s going to spam my for you page on social media for weeks. I expect it to realistically be fun enough but to leave a lot of people pissed off with creative decisions, have tons of fan service, cool moments and aura but probably feel a bit hollow and shameless in some areas. I’ll probably still have a great time but this movie will leave people going to war I just know it

@theanonymouscritic1710 2 hours ago (edited)

I feel you man. I can’t believe it either. 5:50 I call it desperation.

@TheCommonGentry 5 hours ago

had to click on this so fast!! lol

@Lollydolly102 2 hours ago

They probably just started with Steve and Peggie already in that universe in the new movie and then realised they needed to explain that last minute

@MonsterBoi-M78 3 hours ago

They're also re-release Brand New Day with extra footage so this place a dangerous precedent for studios to release what's essential just movie dlc 💀✌️
