The slave trade is indeed a heinous stain on humanity, but may I put in a word for the English sailors in 1808 after slavery was abolished in the UK, who intercepted these ships, one could smell them miles away, and freed the captives, often being murdered in the process.  A court case in 1772 ruled that a slave in the UK could not be forcibly removed.

The fact this has to be censored by youtube should be embarrassing for them.

It's crazy what humans are capable of doing to each other.

We should not be censoring the truth on Youtube.
Monetisation should not dictate free speech.
The Historical truth is very important to hear.
Luv and Peace.

‘People aren’t cargo mate’ - Captain Jack Sparrow

I’m amazed anyone survived such an ordeal let alone a mortality rate less than 20%.

Just remember: No matter horribly the Atlantic slave trade is depicted in movies, it was way, way worse.

It’s both bewildering and horrifying how much death, destruction, and absolute cruelty was driven by money alone.

Slave trade, holocaust are some of the situations that I just cannot understand how people convinced themselves it was even somewhat acceptable

Man RIP to all my ancestors, and the ones who jumped ship. Imagine being scared enough to jump into the open sea…

The heat, the smell, the unknown, truly hell on water. Thank you for this video

Nobody could have ever believed this was morally alright.
Let's not forget that there are still people enslaved around the world today 😢

How refreshing to see and hear an actual human narrator! 😊

This channel is something else. Putting the human element at the forefront in every video is the best way to bring history (and its lessons) to life.

It’s important that we learn our history so that we don’t repeat it, even if that history is disturbing or uncomfortable

What I found most interesting regarding the Slave Trade and particularly the Portuguese was their treatment of their African slaves. They apparently had a bounty of them and thus treated them quite poorly. They subsisted upon essentially a not very nourishing gruel and were worked to death. Children were used to penetrate the slimmest cavities of their mines where adults/adolescences could not go and often died in cave ins. Though they were encouraged to become Christians they weren’t allowed to enter a church. It was truly quite a horrific experience and life.

I learned all of this when I was living in Brasil for a decade. As I visited several mining sites in different areas/states of Brasil.

It is sickening on a grand scale that people could smell a slave ship before it arrived or was visible on the horizon.

Most people don’t realize, there is more slavery today than any other point in human history.
It blew my mind when someone told me that and I looked it up
