Diego Brando and his dinosaur Stand Scary Monsters are a pivotal part of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Part 7 - Steel Ball Run. This Stand works as an infection, turning other creatures - living or dead - into dinosaurs.

In episode 30 of my JJBA Stand Analysis series, we will dive deep into how Diego Brando's Stand Scary Monsters works, its unique abilities, plus the best ways its power can be applied in combat and other scenarios.

With the upcoming Steel Ball Run anime episodes releasing soon, it's only fitting to discuss the alternate universe's version of Dio Brando's Stand.

The next Stand Analysis video is here, and this time we're focusing on Diego Brando's Stand: Scary Monsters from Part 7: Steel Ball Run.
I did something new with the character introduction screen on this video, not sure if I'll stick to it as it took some time to make - but let me know what you think of this & the video itself.

Share around with fellow Jojo fans, and enjoy!

I love the
character-select-Intro, it brings a lot of character to the whole thing!

One thing to note is that the stand doesn't turn people into exclusively real dinosaurs but just any dinosaur-like creature, when he took out the two guards and turned them into lamps he simply turned them into dinosaurs shaped like lamps

I could totally see Diego somehow being able to make a last ditch effort to make his headless body into a dinosaur…to kill Dario- mainly because he deserves it after causing Diego to nearly drown to death to not another mouth to feed

I think the reason the stand has dinosaurs more similar to the ones in jurassic Park is because back in the 1890's dinosaurs weren't known as much and what we did know was largerly inaccurate we also know dr.Ferdinand hated dinosaurs

Switching sight back and forth between a human and a dinosaur could very well have resulted in Diego’s senses being so heightened it became hard for him to slow down or view things slower. Scary Monsters is an infection after all so there’s bound to be some trade offs!

8:49 honestly Utahraptor of Deinonychus would be a better comparison if this was accurate, since irl Velociraptor was the size of a large turkey. But this is clearly based on JP Velociraptor.

Well, remember that Scary Monsters's stats aren't referring strictly to Diego's dinosaur form. They're referencing the speed at which the infection/transformation takes place, which is very quick but not instant as we see with both Dr. Ferdinand and Diego in their uses of the ability.

Scary Monsters is one of the three known stands of someone completely inheriting another’s stand (Cheap Trick and Anubis don’t count due to their inherent nature as parasites) and unlike Weather Report or Soft and Wet- the Scary Monsters’ utilization by Diego is so refined that you forget that Ferdinand was even the original user and it’s Diego that one usually thinks of when one talks about the Scary Monsters Stand

Peak video again

And if I have to add something to this-

The types of dinosaurs Diego can infect doesn't have to be "accurate/real" dinosaurs. It can be A FICTIONAL type Dinosaur like the two lamp Dinosaurs Diego turned Funny Valetine's guards into. Granted the "fictional" dinosaurs still needs to obey the Size rule.

And remember, the setting is around 1800s or less, so creative fictional stories don't exist

So imagine Scary Monsters in the modern setting

A user of this stand can turn you or I or anyone into any fictional dinosaur that

1. Fits the size

And

2. Fits the power level of a person and just increased it a little based on the Dinosaur type. Scientifically accurate Dinosaurs or fictional Dinosaurs

What’s funny about the Paleontological inaccuracies in the stand is that it could be a Bizarre aspect of Jojo’s world, or that the stand reflects inaccurate knowledge. Imagine Dr. Ferdinand finding out his stand was completely wrong in its recreations
