After spending a week with the Model 3 (and getting my wife’s opinion: Love it or hate it? One week with the stal...) I thought I'd sum up my feelings in a much shorter video. So here it is, my quick review of the Model 3.

There’s really so much to love about it but would I get one? No. And in this video I explain why.

This will be the final Model 3 video, honest! I covered a lot with the previous Model 3 video featuring my wife, but I wanted to put my thoughts into a more succinct episode. Mainly because I found myself so frustrated with this car. It's absolutely brilliant... but I'd not buy one.

As a former BMW driver for 20 yrs. I didn’t find the lack of indicator stalks a problem at all.

Tesla just announced it's bringing back the stalk for signalling for model 3 in China so I suspect this will also comes to other markets soon. It will also be available for existing model 3 highland as a retrofit option. They already realized that it was a bad idea because the new Model Y has a stalk for signalling.

Displaying current speed in small text in the corner of a central screen is a problem for me. It should be a hatchback.

Completely agree with you on the lack of stalks. It’s inconvenient at best and dangerous at worst when turning or crossing lanes at speed with traffic around you

Love my TM3 - the icing on the cake is the Supercharger Network. I love minimalism too. I test drove the Highland and came to a similar conclusion regarding the lack of stalks. They’d have to put them back to tempt me to buy a highland.

The stalks situation is nuts, it just encourages NOT using indicators which isn't good for anyone.

99% agree on your assessment, well done.... get the old gen Tesla model 3/Y and just change the suspension shocks in the rear (takes 45 mins per shock to change, quite easy to do, no wheel alignment needed afterwards so a DIY job, and they are not that costly.... HUGE difference !!)

Appreciate the honest review. I've got one arriving next week (the current lease offers make it an incredible deal) but good to know I had the same qualms as you did during testing. After an overnight loaner that Tesla were willing to lend me, I found that after a few hours I got quite used to the lack of indicator stalks but the gears did catch me out a few times. Time will tell if I fully get used to it or need to reconsider but here's hoping.

It took me about a 1 hour trip to get accustomed to the stalk free turn signals and I never missed the gear shift lever. I now prefer no stalks and am looking for buttons when I drive other autos.

I’ve had a Highland for 12 months and love it. There’s an argument for indicator stalks although I wouldnt go back now. With the excellent Autosteer functions for gear changing there’s little point in a gear changing stalk.

Hi Andrew, great video as usual, I agree with the stalks situation totally, there's no plausible reason to omit them, and the need to use the touch screen for a majority of the functions is frustrating and dangerous when your eyes are not on the road when trying to go through numerous sub menus to find what you need 😮

Very balanced review. My only gripe is the persistence of the car wanting to come off at a junction on a motorway or dual carriageway on autopilot. Surely this can be fixed. This was exactly the same in my 2021 M3.

The thought of having no indicator stalks makes me feel rather at home as a BMW M2 driver who has stalks but doesn’t need them!! 🤣

I have a model 3 on order as a company car so decided to go for a test drive to see if the negative comments/points would affect me as an ex BMW driver. Tbh just found that if you keep your hands in a “quarter to three” driving position when approaching a roundabout the indicator buttons weren’t an issue. Enjoyed your review.👍🏻

There is a software update that removes the requirement to use the screen to change into reverse or drive. Works well most of the time. Owned the car for 2 months and really pleased with it.
