The simple fact is that these two women are close personal friends in real life outside of music. Akane has remarked that she and Haruna (Harupi to her friends) are charter members of the big eaters drumming club and they both have legendary appetites.

Two wonderful drummers at the top of their game. Very different stylistically, but fit like a puzzle in their respective bands. They are also very good friends in RL. The female rock and metal instrumental talent in Japan is next level; there is nowhere in the world that comes close.

As long as Akane & Haruna aer buddies, so long is BAND-MAID & LOVEBITERS.
There is much less competition between Japanese bands, but more interaction . . .

As always, it was a very interesting analysis.
By the way, when I explain Lovebites and BAND-MAID to others, I compare them to Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
It’s not a direct comparison 😁—it’s about their distinct personalities.
The problem is that there are still far too few people in Japan who know about these two great bands!😂

Very nice analysis of both drummers who are good friends ! One additional bit of info - When Haruna was 14, her parents bought her a keyboard and she started writing songs on that keyboard, and so the piano/keyboard played a foundational role in her early musical development and songwriting. She later used this musical foundation to write songs like "Bravehearted"

色には「赤」「青」「黄」がありますがこれは優劣ではありませんね。あくまでも違いであってそれぞれの個性を自分なりに見出して楽しむ事が大事ですね👍

Great video, two of my personal favorite drummers for sure!! Note, Harupi started out piano too (as did all the members of LB) and IMHO uses her large array of cymbals even more extensively than Akane! Regardless, they are both fantastic drummers! And don't forget the likes of Junna and Tamu (among others) who are also fantastic in Japanese rock/metal! Cheers!
