It’s almost as if allowing hereditary dictatorships to own football clubs, and then allowing multiple businesses owned by said hereditary dictatorships to invest as much money as they like in those clubs, was a bad idea. Why did no one see this coming?
You can’t guarantee that Haaland wouldn’t have come to national league north side Oxford City if he hadn’t been tempted by the cheating Man City, so I demand we get immediately promoted several divisions and Haaland has to play for us for the next 3 seasons
Alfie, take it from a former journalist, you ARE a journalist. You do the research, put in the effort, inform the general public using verifiable evidence and facts, cite and quote from both direct and reputable sources, and take historical data and put it into the context of current events or societal norms. Well done and keep it up.
Football Clubs should not be able to be owned by anyone that the UK legal system cannot touch. That includes the rulers of nation states, but also any foreign diplomats who enjoy diplomatic immunity or anyone who resides in a country without an extradition treaty with the UK. In the City case it goes beyond breaking the rules of a sporting competition. If the allegation around Mancini's payments are true, for example, then HRMC could pursue a case of tax evasion given more than half of his salary for managing city was being falsely disguised as a consultancy fee paid by a foreign company into an offshore account. Whilst they could demand Mancini come and answer for himself, the people who set the scheme are are untouchable
As a City fan I want relegation after this news. The reputation of this club is in the mud and we are no longer the same club that many neutral fans used to respect. Some of these newer City fans are as arrogant and entitled as the United fans we used to face in the past. Nothing but a sportswashing project for the UAE
