It's insane that Harry named his son Severus, and not Arthur or Rubeus

This is all my thoughts about Snape made into a video.
Love him as a character, hate as a person.

It infuriates me that Harry named his child after Snape. Nothing changes the fact that Snape was a horrible bully to children.

let's be real here, people only like Snape because the movies left out so much of his backstory and toned down his cruelty, and because he was portrayed by the masterclass actor that was Alan Rickman.

My reading of Snape is that he's never really changed, and abandon his old beliefs. Rather he simply was out for revenge against the man who killed the woman he loved.

remember Snape's actions during the first war literally caused the wizarding community to consider sectumsempra his signature spell. Man was a war criminal sheltered by the winning side

Harry; snape, the bravest man I know.
His dad; wtf

They made draco and snape good in movies and made ron look like a jerk who was useless and doesn't deserve hermoine rupert really saved that character for me

His big redeeming trait is supposedly his love for Lily. Yet he was perfectly fine having her husband and son die. If he truly loved her, he'd care about the pain that caused her. Ultimately, I'd say he's worse than Lucius. As awful as he is, he at least sincerely loves his wife and son.

Harry naming his son after him is baffling. Ok, not using Remus is fair, saving that for Teddy. But what about Rubeus, or Arthur? Two far more deserving people.

Snape lovers also think just because he was bullied it makes it okay he still joined a murderous cult also only became a double agent because Lilly died

Snape also for sure bullied Neville more out of resentment that he didn’t get targeted by Voldemort instead of Harry.

Alan Rickman is Such a Goated Actor that he Gaslighted 90%  Fandom to Liking Snape 😂

I love when people say, "Well, he had to keep his cover with the Death Eaters." He also had to make it convincing that Dumbledore would trust him. Best way to walk that line? Act in a reasonably professional manner with the students! Favor Slytherin, sure, but that doesn't mean he has to outright abuse all the other students.

You cant realistically think Snape became a leading death eater because he watched others. He was a leader and one of the worst offenders. Dumbledore got him off because he became a spy

I recently found your channel and videos and they are just great. You make some excellent points here i never thought of. Keep it up.

I saw the movies first, and Snape was easily my favorite character. But then I read the books and was annoyed to find that I absolutely hate Severus Snape in the books. This man should not have a job let alone be allowed to work with children.
Its bizarre how much Dumbledore allows him to get away with. Smh...

I love Snape as a character, and I fully agree with you. The issue is, as soon as someone has anything tragically in their past, people immediately make excuses for them. Snape has a dark past, he has been bullied, abused and definitely was neglected as a child, and sadly, as some victims do, he turned to hatred and joined a hate group, most likely because of self-hate and to become a man who couldn't be bullied and abused ever again.

However, an explanation isn't an excuse. The mere fact that he was a victim, doesn't eradicate his flaws and misdeeds. It doesn't eradicate the fact that if he gave Voldemort this specific information, this would mean someone was killed, just as you say.

What I absolutely hate about most fellow Snape fans is that they constantly blame Lily for his choices. You even find people claiming that Lily did nothing for him, while he was willing to do everything for her, which just isn't true.

In all of the memories we see of those two, Snape doesn't do anything for Lily. Nothing. He doesn't reject children who target her for being muggleborn, he antagonises Petunia, first by aiming his juvenile magic at her to hurt her, then by luring Lily to snoop in her room, treating her cruelly whenever they meet. He never stands behind her, never does anything that could be considered support. If you look more closely at the scene at the lake, you see they're already estranged, they're no longer walking or sitting together, and Lily explicitly said that James was as bad as Severus, the only difference was that Snape called her a mudblood, and James didn't, which already tells us that Snape has also bullied other students at that point, and Lily was done defending him.

I personally think, Snape was someone who couldn't endure anyone getting close to him, that his self-hatred was so huge, he was self-sabotaging and actively antagonizing people to protect himself, however, again, an explanation isn't an excuse, and I saw my own brother going down a similar path, and I had to pull back because he became so destructive.

At the end of the day, no matter why someone does what they do, you can't help them, if they won't help themselves and don't take responsibility for their actions.

It makes Snape fascinating and interesting, and also extremely realistic, that he has a solid backstory to support the character he is, but that doesn't change the fact that he suffered the consequences of his own inability to confront himself and take responsibility for his own misery. A real life Snape would be a hooligan, a supremacist or other extremist, and no amount of empathy and friendship could ever cure that if he couldn't even choose the one person he loved so deeply over his own self-hatred and the hate group validating his bitterness.

I'll never forget how I saw someone try to downplay him threatening to kill Neville's toad with "But he didn't actually kill it, though!"

Dude was completely unredeemable AND HARRY GOES AND NAMES HIS KID AFTER HIM! Like what? Harry… come on

Anyone else feel like Hagrid was closer to Harry and deserved a kid named after him more than Snape did?
