Kaiba went to college with Vegeta.

Yugi: If we lose this duel, we'll die.
Kaiba: Yep.
Yugi: And our loved ones will remain Marik's hostages.
Kaiba: Yep.
Yugi: Lumis and Umbra are a dangerous team, so we'll need to combine our strategies to outsmart them.
Kaiba: That makes sense to me.
Yugi: So let's work together.
Kaiba: No, I'll win this duel myself.

The mental gymnastics to avoid saying you'll fall to your deaths is absolutely hilarious 😂

“I realize your magic card saved my life points, but next time I’ll do it myself!!” …. Sir, you had no cards on the field at all.

Kaiba was being the Ultimate gaslighter this whole duel

Here's a fun drinking game. Every time Lumis or Umbra say "Shadow Realm" take a shot.

Kaiba sounded stubborn as Vegeta before the fusion 😂

Despite the 4Kids edits and sometimes cheesy dialogue, this is such a timelessly stylish series. The outrageous hairstyles, the belts on clothes, the crazy visuals, the edgy antagonists AND protagonists, the life and death stakes on a trading card game -- it's amazing.

This duel is the one exception to the idea of the Shadow Realm being a cool idea. The convoluted explanation to explain away bombs and falling to your death, as well as Unbra using a parachute to avoid the "Vortex" to the Shadow Realm shows the hand of censorship more than any other.

The hoops the writers had to jump through to make this show "kid friendly".

The magic shadow box or how we call it: TNT

@isaiahhellems7901 6 months ago

I like how Yugi didn't even have to declare that graveyard effect in any sort of way.

Just think of how many people were sent to hell over a children's card game.

I can't believe a duel with basically only simple combat tricks and removal cards needed to last 3 episodes.

“Why would Yugi tell me to attack a monster stronger than mine? I smell a rat” 22:59 🐀😂

How would they get their
Egyptian god cards if they fall into the shadow realm? The clash between ‘ your souls will fall for eternity ‘ and ‘per battle city rules we win your cards 🤓’ is low key hilarious
