Preparations are underway before we begin taking down the kitchen wall. Lincoln blocks off the staircase to keep the pets safely away from the construction zone, we close the shutters ahead of an incoming heatwave in Brittany, and spend time planting apple trees around the property. After a trip to the USA, Lincoln is finally back home, and work at the château can begin moving forward again.

I approach projects like Lincoln does: stare at it for a month, then (usually) I’m able to finish it without having to do it twice. I suppose it would take as much time to decide quickly and then fix mistakes, but our way is less effort.

Tip: In order to keep a weed free lawn, you should mow often enough that you never have to remove more than a third of the height of the grass blade. If the grass grows to a five inch height and you mow it to 2 inches, you open up the density of the grass and allow for growth of weed seeds blown in or dropped from birds. If you cut to 2 inches from 3 inches of growth, you develop a thick lawn that will remain virtually weed free.

Lincoln is so patient and methodical. It is interesting to see him problem solve. I discovered your blog when he was redoing the first bathroom and uncovered rotten beams. It came together beautifully as your new kitchen will. So many unexpected discoveries with an old chateau that need solving!

Great job Lincoln , that staircase is an absolute work of art got to keep secure and of course the dust out of the rest of the upstairs. Amanda also did a good job of keeping Lincoln going up the stairs to know where. At least we know Lincoln will stay in France after something awful happens to the Mrs. Thanks for sharing guys and also beautiful garden.
