6:20 I remember in this comic smoke had a catch phrase and just kept saying “toasty” at the most random moments 😆

8:25 Like that they chained up and took away Johnny Cage's clothes but let him keep his sunglasses.

I legit thought zaggot at first was like a faux slur

That Goro gun is belt fed AND has a magazine. Truly an amazing piece of weaponry.

In Brazil, the Malibu Street Fighter comic sold so well that the publisher actually continued it with original stories after the third issue. They pretty much ignored the Malibu story and did their own thing, though.

These comics matched the energy of wandering into an arcade in the 90s, being blown away by these characters and  moves, and just making up ridiculous lore about them on the spot

Kid you not I was just listening to the Mortal Kombat comics being read by someone after the Arcade Collection got announced not even 48 hours ago

One last thing, the last issue of Malibu's SF2 issue straight up said that Capcom hated their comic and ended it, and pretty much told what they were going to do in future issues.  Apparently Ken's death was a fakeout, and they were going to have evil clones of the characters (so it could be like Champion Edition?)

Baberuthless pulled some comics I never knew existed. Her research is insane

17:40 GORO THAT IS NOT A WORD YOU SHOULD SAY.

@21:22 ah yes, the dreaded Youngblood's Disease can affect even the champion of Mortal Kombat.

1:50 Sub Zero is aware

The Killer Instinct comic shows that Orchid looks like a different character in every game even before the reboot. No wonder there are debates what her race/ethnicity is supposed to be.

Malibu already had a character named Brigade in '93, headlining his own comic no less.

Though I think we all already knew that in our heart of hearts. Just as if I asked you to picture what a Malibu character named "Brigade" looks like in your mind you're almost certainly going to be correct. I think it's a collective unconscious Jungian thing.

I actually had that Mortal Kombat Special Forces comic when I was a kid! I can't recall much about the plot, other than it was Jax, Sonya and their new 90's buddies battling some generic terrorists. I did think some of the characters were pretty cool at the time, especially the woman with the mask, who was called Vapor, got her powers thanks to some botched experiment, and never took off her mask. I was disappointed she never showed up in MK3.

They Scalped Kenny! Those Bastards!

26:49 I have never seen more painted on spandex. The artist literally drew the areola and colored it green.

8:56 Sonya said the same when she saw him. Then, she did the math...

Result = marriage.

Never in my life did I imagine Sonya being forced to marry Shao Khan. I thought the sorcerer had the hots for her. 🤣
