Johnny Cage had a bodyguard name Bo and he fought both baraka and reptile in the comics

Lucifer, the ruler of the Nether Realm, tortured Shinnok for ages during his imprisonment

For characters that turn into animals
Kotal Kahn as seen  in MK11

Here's an obscure one from the bottom of the iceberg: Stan Looth - he's Shao Kahn's 10,000-year-old janitor, he gave an interview in a 90's Video Games mag during the days of MK3. He said he killed an eight-armed monster with a plunger, so Shao gave him immortality and a job.

He only existed in text, but I was so taken by him that I thought he deserved a visual depiction, I made him the orange ninja because it looks like a hazard vest. He uses a mop as his weapon and skin-melting cleaning chemicals. His back-mounted vacuum can suck your face off your skull...

So.... Most of the MK roster

I really hope we can get Wu Lae as an Orange Ninga Like a wasteland stealth Hunter, who could summon craws

I am 43 and I used to have all these Mortal Kombat comics from Malibu back in the 90s. They were licenced by Midway, so they could use the MK characters, but the story on these comics departed from the official or canon.

My favorite charater from these comics was "The Kombatant". He was a huge brutal monster created by Zaggot (an original character that was the Lord of Chaos). The Kombatant was a hybrid monster that possessed the attributes, powers and abilities of the original Mortal Kombat  (1992) characters. He was big, muscular and four-armed like Goro, each one of his arms had the powers of some of the playable characters, he could cheate ice blasts like Sub-Zero with one arm, another arm used a spear like Scorpion, I think the other two arms also have the fireballs and pink energy rings from Liu Kang and Sonya. His head was bald and had a visor resembling Kano's head. You can even see him executing Johnny Cages shadow kick in one panel. Implementing such monster as a boss would be amazing.

My dream is one day to create some sort of "Mortal Kombat Gaiden" (a side story parallel to the canon) where we can see some of these original characters. I don't think that will ever happen because all Malibu comics intellectual properties are owned by Marvel/Disney now.

Kotal Kahn changes into a panther during some of his special moves

5:44 Animality, anyone?

Mugen created a lot creative Mortal Kombat characters to which why Khrome is so popular.

Damn what about art lean 😂

Aynos could have been a decent counterpart to Sonya like Mileena is to Kitana and Tanya is to Jade I always felt Kira or Tasia would have been a great rival of Sonya.

Immortality only sucks from the perspective of someone who doesn't already lost everyone....

If you end up making a follow-up to this video, I'd love to see you cover Abacus and Zaggot! They're from the comics as well (specifically the Goro: Prince of Pain trilogy). They're the gods of Order and Chaos respectively, and I believe they're brothers. They're constantly fighting for control over the universe, and their power levels depend on each other (when one gets stronger, the other gets weaker, and vice-versa). Zaggot has the ability to turn into this giant crow monster thing, and I believe Abacus has chess powers? These guys were introduced long before Deception introduced Orderrealm and Chaosrealm btw!

Also, if you want characters who are even more obscure than those two, Abacus has an assistant named Miss Bishop who runs a library that documents everything that's ever happened in history, and Zaggot has a pet crow named Rook who always compliments him and can also shoot dark magic from its eyes!

We beg companies to make games, movies, and tv shows from the their own source materials, but unless these gain as much traction as their most popular IP’s, I don’t think we’ll see these characters in any other media anytime soon, but I hope it happens.

With Quan Chi's assistance, Shinnok successfully defeated and killed Lucifer, taking his place as the new ruler of the Nether Realm.
