The Forgotten Predator that Terrorized Early American Explorers

There is a forgotten chapter in the history of North & South America that I have never seen another historian talk about before. I’ve found over a dozen old, buried accounts about Jaguars on the frontier of the Americas that completely challenge what we usually think about these cats. There are two major misconceptions that most Americans have about Jaguars: one, that they are really just jungle cats living somewhere off in the jungles of South America, and two, that Jaguars are generally scared of humans & never hunt us — but both of these ideas are completely wrong.

From the first Spanish explorers crossing through the jungles of South America in the 1500s, all the way to the English explorers being led by Natives into the foothills of Appalachia - there was a massive cat that stalked the expedition parties, mauled their livestock & dogs, and more often than people realize, would drag people from their homes, off into the forest… and eat them.

This is the forgotten & overlooked history of the American Man-Eater: & the explorers, hunters, frontiersmen, & natives - who were attacked, dragged off, & eaten by them.

Over the years spent studying tribes around the world, I’ve become obsessed with tracking the bloody history and unsolved mysteries of humanity's ancient rival: big cats, or as I call them, "MAN-EATERS".
