There are still a few of us shortwave listeners around.
Biggest problem is the high noise levels in urban areas. I have a Tecsun PL-330, very happy with it.

Shortwave fan here .... my favorite hobby.

I too am a SWL from way back - like you I learned to love it as a kid. I am 75 now. 73s and welcome back Chrissy Freitas ! 73s , QSL.

I still love and will never give up on shortwave listening. I started listening in the late 70's during the Iran hostage crisis. Although I've quit a few times, I always come back. 📻   ♥️  👍

I have quite a few radios. Lately, my SDRPlay DXR2 is my favorite. I have been into radios since I was a kid. I had a Realastic DX-160 with a wire running out to a tree in my front yard. Got into CB, then amateur radio. Thought it was so cool to listen to China and London from my bedroom.

I have an Eton. Great radio!!

Radio New Zealand International is fun to listen to early in the AM on the East Coast of the USA. There are also a few niche programs are also on SW. I could see SW being useful for foreign language learners. I have the romantic concept of being somewhere and the only contact with the world are SW broadcasts.

Looking forward to your videos.
Your objective is humble and straightforward. Best wishes 💐

was once a weather radio collecting kid, now a shortwave radio collecting adult.

Me and radios is like Marge and potatoes. I think they are neat! 😁
Truly, my fascination with shortwave radio started around 2003. I found an old boombox in the trash pile that had shortwave. So that caught my attention. Didn’t know what it was, it still got my curiosity. I was already at the beginning of interest of radio in general. Other than local radio, CB, or walkie talkies. In 99, my cousin invited over to watch his father n law talk on a ham radio. That was when my interest in radio started after hearing whoever he was talking to was in New Zealand while we were located in central Texas. Well a few years go by to when I found the boombox with shortwave. One day I heard a country station when I was searching the shortwave. So I stopped to listen to it long enough to hear the call letters “WWCR Nashville.” It blew my mind on how far the station was from me. I’ve picked up far fm stations before but nowhere near as far as WWCR. Quickly finding out WWCR wasn’t a country station. I just happened to find them playing country music for that time of day. Years later I got back into shortwave after giving it a break and got a shortwave radio with sideband. Tuning around one early Saturday morning, I found the furthest shortwave station I have ever found was from Australia. They were playing country music. The music had most of the country artists from Australia. It was interesting yet also it was like time travel. Their Saturday would be coming to an end while mine was beginning. Lately I havnt been listening to shortwave for being in such a noisy environment. I will take my radio every now and then for when I happen to be away from the city and give a listen. The best place to listen out for weak shortwave stations is way out in the country and away from broadcast towers. Shortwave may be dying but there’s still bunch of interesting things to find. A lot of it is in sideband like ham operators or navtext and wefax. I’ll keep listening to shortwave as long as I can. WWCR still has their country hour to this day Monday to Friday with Thursday off at 11am central time or 16:00 utc.

I bought an Eton like yours about a hear or so ago and it is really nice
There are still quite a few SW listeners out here, and quite a lot to listen to

It has been a long minute since I've seen a video of yours.  The Eton Elite is a great radio :)

I been DXing for over 50 years . Everything radio... From Longwave to satellite and the Internet..... today I still do it in 2026... Longwave to the Internet 😊...I had to give up the satellite dish because I moved (the Internet has to do for now) 😊

Shortwave is still fun. Not as much to listen to as the old days but online SDRs around the world make up for it, so there's some give and take there

When I was a kid you could here a lot of different stations.  Today when I do listen on webSDR it’s a void.  😞  still some but fickle.

Retired now and time has come to rekindle the Passion for shortwave. I have the Grundig sat 800 the Tecsun PL 660 . I have heard quite a few stations out here in Dxb.
Some of the stations heard are NHK Japan, Radio Philippines, Radio Korea, Some Bible stations, CRI is a giant, Iran, AIR, Radio Vanuatu,

BBC is still there, but World Service in English has been much reduced with fewer hours on SW to Asia and Africa; many languages like French and Hausa are on SW too.
