Fun Episode guys!

Such an awesome episode!  Energy meets wisdom!

Graig’s opinion on the Leaf Ruth card is correct.

Congrats to David Chase for what has to be the first Georges Seurat reference in the history of SCC!

An all-time episode! Definitely lived up to the hype

Great episode guys !

Great show, thanks guys!

Absolute fire episode, guys! David Chase killed it. We do really need this reality check on the future of PSA slabs. Although we can't predict exactly what the future will bring or how these higher-grade PSA premiums will hold up long term, it is just so good to have this discussion out in the open.

Have listened to sports card live for along time only on podcast, wouldn’t have guessed David Chase would be a doppelgänger for Guy Fieri

Great episode man!!!

Gave a video like. Enjoyed the listen fellas.

It’s not about PSA being more forgiving in the past.  It’s quite clear that PSA added AI to their grading process.  There’s no way they could grade 2m cards a month without doing so.  Whether they admit it or not, they have.  My issue is that you can implement AI in an intelligent way, training it on the grading outcomes that the company provided for 20+ years, or you can totally debase all of your prior trust and reliance of the hobby on what a given grade for a given set looks like.  They just added technology in an unintelligent way and in the process they shifted the scale to the left.  The ramifications on the millions of cards in collections and on the “Jewel of their business”, the Set Registry, were disregarded.  This, along with their customer service and turnaround blunders has made them an odious company for the collector who previously may have had positive animus towards them.

David emptied several clips!!! Great episode and I’m with ya David. Just Bonkers!

I saved this for when I was able to sit and watch it rather than my usual travel listen. Worth it. David makes so much sense it’s scary. Love his passion for the hobby. It’s infectious. Great job guys!

EPIC David Chase rant at @38:50!!  As the hobby continues to grow, there is space for a start-up AI grading company.  This would not replace PSA -- but better consistency over time could disrupt PSA.

didnt realize that old school on-site grading is why the high cert numbers are that way, good info (always noticed ones starting with 3-, 5-, and 9- for older certs)

Another thought provoking episode 👏

Loved this discussion.  Many of these thoughts were something I have been saying and thinking for a while. Graig your comments on self driving is something I tell my kids all the time.   Problem is I live in the midwest and will most likely not be able to use it in the winter and will have to winter in Palm Springs....

I didn’t expect the moon landing to catch strays in this episode 😂

Great conversation!  That is exactly why I have started focusing on cards that reflect "value" based more on the scarcity of the card versus the "grade premium"  Your 90s Bonds card is a good example.  You dont need a PSA 10 in order to realize significant value.  I have a PSA 7 Pinnacle Epix Emerald Moments Bonds card.. which is a pop 6.. ANY grade in that card holds a lot of value.  For ultra modern I don't mind investing in a few 10s (in the GOATS).. and then for true vintage imo the sweet spot is mid grade with great eye appeal.  Again thanks for the great episode!

Graig is right about the Jerry Rice.  The Leaf Ruth bloooowwwwwwssssss! 😂
