93' were the 1st refractors and now the entire industry revolves around them. I'm not surprised to see them go up for the historical value

I’ll probably be watching this in 2 parts. Yes- we are all facing this same issue it seems. I guess I was never locked in to the non sports! Flipping Steve just did a great video on that as well. It’s crazy what’s going on as a whole, but since I missed out I guess it doesn’t affect me. Great video so far guys.

As a kid I thought the Brewers logo was just a baseball glove. It wasn't until they brought it back and I was in my 30's that I found out the fingers were an "m" on top of a "b".

The Jump Man card will be iconic for sure. Kids go nuts right now for all the Super Mario stuff. Definitely grab it while you can. It’s nostalgic and history really. Thanks for speaking about it.

The AK RC is #2 on my list. A real beauty with the deep red color & the cool Tiger logo & a great image of AK.

Great show- on the Tony Gwynn RC, I was on the same hunt as Mike for years and then found a near perfect second year, 1984 Topps signed (with the early playing days autograph). It cost a fraction of the 83 Topps and while I didn't care about the grade, a PSA 7/10 was an added perk. Still shocked at the price difference between the rookie and second year!

That's really depressing that collectors don't know (or care) about Bresnahan. Hard to believe, actually. Guess they'd rather have a Dora the Explorer "rookie" card.

Great video! My dilemma card is a Jordan z-cling. I had every intention of selling it when I sent to PSA. It came back a 10.. the last one sold for $4k. But now, for some reason I want to hold it.

Good luck with the 2004 Topps Chrome Pedro Black Refractor. I also need that one to finish my Pedro Chrome refractor Red Sox run. Like you said, it never turns up and the current seller is firm on $900. I offered $350 back in April and again in June and the offers expired without a counteroffer. I was sent an offer of $855 in February. That said, a raw 1998 Topps Chrome Pedro refractor just sold tonight for $405, so the market is getting crazy.

This Surface Issues episode in 2026 has certain target cards from 70+ years ago. I could see a future Surface Issues in 2066 having people targeting the first ever refractor from 70 years ago of the home run king* that only had 241 copies. I guess the counterpoint though is I'm not exactly eager to pay $3k today for it.

I disagree a little bit on the 1950 Bowman Jackie. In my opinion it's already exploded and his other non rookies are starting to catch up. Went to the National around 2016-2018, and a 5 could be had for less than $600. I just couldn't find a centered copy. Put it off and put it off, and all of a sudden it 4x'd. And it's been steadily climbing ever since, but not at the same clip as his other cards. Love the 1950 though. Hopefully I get it someday.
I'd also say the lower end Aarons have jumped. I got a 6 ten years ago, and it's been price has been pretty flat since Covid. Which is kinda surprising.
Do you think this is because regular collectors won't spend 15K on a card so they are chasing 1's, 2's, or 3's, and high end collectors are looking for 8's or 9's, so 5's and 6's aren't as high in demand? Just a theory.
