gods of egypt slander lets fucking go

The Jon Kent situation was bad for so many reasons. They essentially aged him up so he can date dudes, while skipping YEARS of development for a hot shot cover. Effectively making the character radioactive, as no one wants to read about him or write for him.

Jonathan Kent is a great example of how the industry made a decision to age up a character to make a point and missed the target.

The most stupid thing about whiteness or blackness is joining skin color with culture. Is saying Irish culture and Russian culture are identical. That Mozambican culture is the same as Ghana's.

I just find it kind of boring in fiction that everybody in the world can accept white characters and history, but white people have a hard time accepting different people of color as the main character or their history.
My question for white people is do you all ever wanna read or see stories about different people or history outside your own. I feel like stories are limited because its mostly about one group of people.

People need to stop being so quick to disregard black characters. It would be different if EVERY POC character was "Badly Witten or forced" as they say, but thats not the case at all.

I often see people saying representation doesn't matter because as people we can relate to anyone, like Goku! If you ask a white person what actor would be good to play Goku, they won't name Jackie Chan or Bruce Lee (inspirations for Goku). They'll name a WHITE actor. And they'll roundly reject a BLACK actor because they've already casted Goku as white in their heads. It's hard to relate to anyone or resist building a white world when you've been fed from birth that you are the center of the world and the standard of humanity and everyone else is a token

I think the worst part of it is poc characters don’t even get the chances that white characters at their worse get. The secret six book that is currently being published hasn’t sold well outside its first week yet we have nothing on the power company or what Black Lightning and his team are doing or the fact that Jace Fox book DID sell well yet he can’t even get a one shot book with Signal as his Robin/Nightwing. It’s infuriating

THANK YOU!

These are the kind of stories that we need to be telling because if we don't learn from history we're bound repeat it as we do so time and time again.

Thanks for having the courage to make content like this Cova!

“The X-men aren’t a minority; they’re just people.”
THAT is such a precious statement! (Also, sarcasm needs a font)

Great video.
The definition of white has also changed since the civil rights movement and some of these characters may not have been seen as white by their creator, specifically Superman who was meant to represent the Jewish American experience and Jews weren't considered white back then.

Spawn + Blade were some of the first black heroes I seen but only sad part about it is spawn had to go to hell to get his power and blade was a vampire lol like no chance at either of them having a happy ending… until I seen static shock

To be fair, in the Dune books, there is no mention of the race of characters, just physical features i.e. skin complexion, eye color, hair color/texture. The live adaptions are another story...

I'm suddenly reminded of Armando Joseph Catalano better known as Guy Williams, whose agent asked him to change his name or else he'd never find success. It's a pity he likely made it mostly because of that name.

I think Claremont views mutancy in the same way society views genius - individuals who are geniuses are considered part of the same group, but being a genius doesn't necessarily separate them from the racial groups society has divided them into. Ultimately, racial groups are societal constructions anyhow.

0:08 says you, I was thinking about Spawn!!!

Solid analysis for this Friday morning viewing. Didn’t know Ben Grimm was Jewish but it immediately checks out. The late great Paul Mooney is not who I expected to make a cameo, either. Good stuff!

Phenomenal video🔥🔥🔥🔥

Dude literally said Italians & poor Eastern Europeans like they are also not White 😂😂😂
