Thank you. Karen Carpenter had the voice of an angel. I'm 66. She died decades ago, but she still missed by many, including myself. 😢❤

She was a VERY good Drummer!!  Look for youtubes showcasing her drum solos.

Voice of an angel...gone too soon. I grew up on The Carpenters. RIP Karen.

A reviewer with Rolling Stone said, "Karen Carpenter's voice is like the sound of a lover whispering in your ear."

I'm 66 too. Still miss her.

Her voice touches your soul

Her first love was the drums. Give a listen to the video of them doing "Dancing in the Street" when she was only 18 years old. She tore it up. She also played bass and piano. Her early death still tears me up. I fell for her in 1971 and she still got me.

Kaysee here ... Rainy Days & Mondays is in the top five of my favourite Carpenters song.  I grew up in the 70s listening to them and I still listen to them today as a 66 year old.  Karen had an amazing voice, so smooth, so clear, so ... everything!!  I get chills every time I listen to her.  If you're looking for suggestions for other Carpenters song, I'd suggest "Yesterday Once More" (my favourite song), "Goodbye To Love", "Superstar", "Close To You"... all great songs.

She was the add on "drummer" so the band could practice in the garage at 15. They finally got someone to come hear them, or they went in (I forget) and the money man for the record label want pretty cool to it all, then finally he said, what about her, does she sing? Naturally they said yes, once he heard her voice he was like SIGN HERE (LOL)

I grew up listening to their music but it was not until I was grown that I appreciate their music like I do now. She has a way to touch your soul when she sings. She sings to you not at you. Richard is a musical genius. He had a way of bringing out the best in her voice. There are many wonderful female singers out there, Karen is my favorite by fall. Wish I could have seen them perform. At least we have videos of them to enjoy.

Her voice is stellar, and in my youth (I am just shy of my 7th decade), yeah, it wasn't energetic enough.  I greatly appreciate her voice, and the praise in the other comments is well deserved.  What I appreciate most about the group is Richard Carpenter's musical arrangements.  The choice of instrumentation, counter melodies, bridges - the stuff you don't notice when all you want is a cool guitar solo.

Best female singer ever.  Period.

There's Karen Carpenter and then there's everyone else

Loved watching this song resonate with Lulu's soul.  Memories are such a gift. You could tell hearing this took her back in time.

Thank you for your reaction to this Carpenters song 🎉😊

Hi, nice to meet you both. I’m Patty here to listen.

Thanks for reacting to this legendary Brother/Sister Duo. Karen’s gorgeous voice and she’s such a great drummer and  Richard’s beautiful arrangements, writing, piano and both played other instruments. Both were true musicians and could play multiple instruments. Karen was an incredible jazz influenced drummer. You’ll see her play in the concert Mr. Guda that Richard wrote and he’s classically trained pianist. Their parents had a huge music collection and Richard started playing as a young child and Karen in her teens.

"Rainy Days and Mondays" is a song by the Carpenters from their self-titled third album, with instrumental backing by the Wrecking Crew.!3! It was written by Paul Williams (lyrics) and Roger Nichols (music), who had previously written "We've Only Just Begun", another hit for the duo. The B-side on the single is "Saturday", a song written and sung by Richard Carpenter.

If you want to watch their AMAZING Budakon Japan concert you’ll be blown away. You’ll see their arrival l, interview La, setting up and the entire concert. It’s incredible (link below):

♥️🎶🎵🎤🎧🎸🥁🎹🎺🎻♥️

She began as a jazz drummer. Check out her drumming on Mr Guder, Oldies Medley 1974 Netherlands, 1968 Dancing in the street and others to see her burn up the drums. Like her singing her drumming is very professional. She never makes it about her and her amazing skills. Everything is in service to the music and the message.

yes, effortless is the way I have always described her singing.

I'm a drummer and it was a desire to be noticed. Look at me!!!!!!!!!!
