If this is your sort of tune, definitely check out this one next 🎶 https://youtu.be/W_dTftFDR0c

To me, Karen Carpenter's voice is just one of those voices that, once heard, you never forget.  Thanks for the video, Sir!

"One-take Karen," way back in the day the sweet girl next door who just happened to have a voice like a warm blanket on a cool evening. Over four decades later and those of us "vintage" folks still find it hard to believe she died so young.

When my daughter was six years old, she came to me and told me she was feeling down but didn't have any reason to feel down. I told her she might feel better if she listened to a sad song, ironically, and I suggested this song specifically, which she had never heard before. Of course, the song describes exactly what she was feeling. A little while later, I saw her singing along to this same Carpenters video on her computer. She told me she was very happy, and the song helped her express what she was feeling.
"Song Sung Blue", by Neil Diamond, describes how a sad song can do this when you're sad, and make you feel better. Happiness isn't always found by chasing "happy" feelings. Sometimes, you need to go through sadness to feel happy again.

From the time when vocalists actually needed to sing. No autotune, no pitch correction.  Just talent

I'm 68, can't remember what I had for breakfast this morning... but here I am singing along remembering every word! Funny how music works on our brains.

One of the best descriptions of depression, ever. There's no reason. Just down. And the description of someone who is supportive but doesn't try to talk it out or "fix" it. Perfect.
Carpenters songs are always more complex than would be expected from a "simple" pop song. Richard Carpenter was a genius arranger.

I don’t think I went to a wedding in the 70s that didn’t play We’ve Only Just Begun. The Carpenters were iconic and Karen’s voice touches your soul.

I sang on stage with Karen Carpenter!!  They were doing a concert in my town and had a song in which they used a children's chorus. They used the choir at my school, so we practiced for a couple of weeks and did the concert.  It was pretty cool!! I was in the 5th or 6th grade way back then. Thanks for your reaction!

She had the most pure voice. I cried when she passed

Growing up in the '70s, The Carpenters' music was a core bit of my childhood. We'd sing along to LPs, and Karen's gorgeous voice eased the heartache of any sad lyrics. Thanks, Sir Hairless, for the trip down memory lane ❤️‍🔥🎼🎵🎶🎹🎷🥁

Her voice is like warm caramel.  I don't know how else to describe it.  One of the most beautiful iconic voices ever.

One thing about Karen's vocals is her amazing breath control. She holds phrases out but you never hear any gasps and I think it's because she efficiently uses her opportunities to noiselessly "slow inhale" to get the air she needs when she needs it. Of course her tone and emotion are are legendary as are Richard's arrangements, so Carpenters music will last forever!

One of the most perfect voices you will ever hear. Pure gold.

Paul Williams was one simply of the greatest song writers ever.

She was a phenomenal singer. One of the greatest drummers as well.

One of the purest female voices of all time!

Will always love this voice!  She said that she considered herself a drummer who sang, not a singer who drums.

I used to work at an answering service in Beverly Hills. Karen Carpenter was one of our clients. She was truly one of the sweetest people in the world.

I always remembered them as The Carpenters.  Love them. The sax is a great sound too. I do believe Karen and Richard did the backup vocals. It was his idea. He was just as important as she was. Both of them made beautiful music. Thank you for reacting! ❤
