Rise in Glory, beautiful lady. So sorry this world couldn’t give you what you so desperately needed. I hope and pray you’re at peace…Karen Carpenter, 1950-1983

The fact she was a very talented drummer and singing like that at the same time. It was a shame when she passed away, but did put a spotlight on anorexia and bulemia. RIP, Karen.

Karen said that this and "Superstar" were the two songs that were the most emotionally difficult for her. But she knocked both out of the park.

Her battle with an eating disorder that ultimately killed her stemmed from a newspaper/magazine article that called her "dumpy". She never forgot it. Some "journalists" are trash.

she sings like Nat King Cole...voice like velvet, effortless and never too loud or strained.

Karen has one of the great voices of all time. So sad we lost her so young.

I was a teenager, and I'd put the album on and listen to it, reading the liner notes and lyrics. Her voice, these arrangements made for a lovely backdrop to understanding life back then. Even today, I remember the lyrics and can sing along. There was real depth to the music and her voice.

Karen Carpenter, is without any doubt. One of the worlds greatest female vocalists.....Been a huge fan since the 70's and still listening in 2026.....

Karen had such perfect pitch. Whether you listened to her live or on a studio album, her timing and pitch control was perfect, even proven using scientific analysis. Her brothers orchestration and her sublime voice were such a combination. That's why so many people are mesmerized listening today for the first time.

Karen Carpenter was THE vocalist of her generation, and over the decades only Adele and Whitney Houston matched her in quality and tone. What's rarely talked about is that she was an excellent drummer, when quality female drummers were few and far in between. There are videos of her trading off with Buddy Rich, who is in the top 3 of the drumming world in music history. If you put "Karen Carpenter drumming" into the search box you will see many videos that showed how good she was. Great reaction guys. !!!!!!!! Keep it up.
