This movie will always be one of my all time favourites. People always talk about how ugly they managed to make Charlize Theron but I don't see her character as ugly I see her as a sad desperate woman in need of love who had been let down by everyone around her, I have always felt sorry for Wuornos, she never stood a chance.

Charlize really deserved the Oscar for this movie. But you could argue that Christina deserved at least a nomination.

This movie got so many awards, mainly due to awesome main character performance of deeply disturbed woman. Its actually sad story and I am very much sure that Aileen Wuornos wouldnt done any of crimes would she got right therapy early in her life..

I never looked at life the same way anymore after watching this film. It must be weird for other people but I found courage and inspiration in Charlize's character in this film. One may argue if the real Aileen shared the similar outlook with Lee. Lee was just so optimistic. And it's weird because she shows her optimism in a very different and aggressive way. She pushes herself through the dark. If I was in her shoes, I'd probably have already killed my self at a very young age. But Lee still hopes and aspires. It's truly beautiful and tragic to see a broken person that still has hopes and dreams. I'm sorry our society has failed on you Aileen. I truly am. I'm sorry your childhood was very cruel on you. The saddest part of this is Aileen is just one of the many people that humanity has failed on.

best performance by an actress i've ever seen

I've just finished watching the movie and it was a wonderful experience. It's such a sad film, but at the same time I feel it as a cry for help for so many women who are in this... line of work, so to speak. There's love, there's cruelty, there's sex, but above all there's SADNESS. Theron is mesmerising, I love her in this part more than in any other where she looks gorgeous, she's got such power to express her emotions, such force behind her acting that it's impossible not to feel stricken by it. Man, this movie really, REALLY put its mark on me...

Theron's performance was OUTSTANDING to say the least.  One of the best I've ever seen.  She put on weight and carried herself just as Wuornos did in every sense of the word.  In my opinion, Theron is one of my beautiful woman in Hollywood.  She is the Marilyn Monroe of our time.  My first thought when this movie started was "this makeup artist is a genius".  To take a beautiful woman like Theron and make her skin, eyes, hair, everything look the way she did, just like Wuornos, was remarkable".  It's unfortunate that audiences rarely think of all the behind the scenes work that goes into making these movies as real as possible.  Having said that, hats off to Theron for her absolutely amazing performance.  She deserved all the recognition she received and then some.  Hats off to the make up artists and the rest of the production crew.  Great work guys, one of my fav movies!
