Charlize is really acting her heart out here. If anyone ever deserved that Oscar, she did.

Charlize was phenomenal in this movie.  Everytime she cries, I cry.

“People are not born heroes or villains; they're created by the people around them.” - Chris Colfer

theron's transformation is insane. she looks and acts just like the real aileen .

Poor Aileen... All she wanted was to feel loved. Really tragic....

I shouldn't have watched this again...it's too sad... BTW Christina looks like she was shocked and overwhelmed by the power of Charlize's performance when she was sobbing.

BEST ACTRESS EVER

I cried watching this and her background..I took my niece to watch this movie. I want her to know others pain...she cried too. We all did.

This scene always blew my mind.. so sad..
Some people understand what that feels like..
Maybe she knew she never see her again.but she doesnt want to say it.. because once she say that. That impies she admit saying goodbye.

She is the best actress I've EVER seen. My God, she is incredible! She didn't just act. She truly BECAME the character. She is the GOAT!

Charlize theron is a great actress, I'm so happy that she win that Oscar.

Aileens real life childhood friend came to visit the set of the movie and the director told her Charlize wanted to meet her in full make up and in character as Aileen...They met and talked for a half hour that way and her friend just said OMG I just talked to Aileen...Charlize research and acting was superb....

What a performance! Charlize gave everything in this film! She really deserved that Oscar and all the other awards!

My favourite performance by a female. I have never seen someone truly embody a role the way Charlize did with Monster. I heard Patty Jenkins edited down this particular scene because it would take away the sadness from the final confession/court scene. Such a shame but I can understand because this scene still gets me after the millionth time of watching it. It's probably the saddest scene I ever seen on film.

How could they not include this in the theatrical version? What a crime...

I am literally heartbroken :(

Such a powerful scene--- makes me so sad.

This is the best acted scene I have EVER seen in a film.

Gosh, this is acting. Charlize is astonishingly gorgeous and she doesn't mind transforming to play a character. She is a real chameleon. She always incorporates her characters perfectly. She is an amazing and very versatile actor!

One hell of a performance.  Was Ricci even THERE?

It is a crime this was basically a deleted scene.  They cut so much out of it to shorten it that it ruined the whole thing.

Wow what a performance. Outstanding
