Not to overshare or anything but I watched this for the first time in a hospital bed after ODing and it hit incredibly hard with Gary’s whole character and his ending.

Been clean and sober 4 years now though, genuinely think watching this helped me grow up quite a bit.

Fun Fact: the scene when young Gary King looks at the sunset or sunrise in the beginning, you can see a shooting star or the Blanks arrival.

The gal sitting next to Simon Pegg on his right in the AA meeting is the zombie girl in his backyard in "Shaun of the Dead" that he shoved backwards onto the pipe.

Hot Fuzz is still my favorite of the trio, but this one is still enjoyable in it's own way.

All of em are 10/10 but this one is my favorite

Simon Pegg is both a good actor, and a good writer.

The entire Cornetto Trilogy forms a kind of meta-thematic metaphor for the start of one’s professional career and struggling to establish oneself (Shaun of the Dead), the peak of one’s career and riding high (Hot Fuzz), and the wind-down of one’s career (World’s End) with Gary’s regrets that his life already peaked but only realizing it in hindsight. Each one is a reminder not to get too caught up in oneself.

Martin Freeman is also well known for playing Watson opposite Benedict Cumberbatch’s Holmes in Sherlock.

"the end is Nigh"

The voice at the end is Bill Nighy.

Multiple rewatching is quite rewarding due to there being so many references, callbacks and foreshadowing.

I didn't appreciate this movie as much as it deserves until Iearned about the AA program also being 12 steps and the whole subtext behind all that.

The name of each pub was a clue for what was going to happen in the movie.

King, Knightly, Prince, Chamberlain, Page. There are a lot of Arthurian references in this one.

The intro once again lays out the whole upcoming storyline beautifully. I love when Pegg and Wright work on a script together.

40:44 As they enter the pub, there is a sign that says “School Disco”. There was a vogue for this a few years ago. Everyone dresses in school uniforms and dances to retro dance music.

Saw all these movies in theaters on their opening weekend. This movie was something special. My favorite detail is that none of the friends knew what Gary was talking about at first, but Andy knew right away because he still got Gary better than anyone.

You should absolutely check out the TV series 'Spaced' so you can see how this crew got their start before Shawn!😊

Little cameo of Mary (cashier/zombie) from Shaun of the Dead @6:03.

The foreshadowing such as the names of the pubs (matching the sequence of events), 3 musketeers reference ("I think they missed a trick only having 3 they could have had 5 then 2 could have died and they'd still have 3 left"), the shooting star at the start are brilliant....things you only catch afterwards (or get told about).
