I think you've officially put more thought into how Nintendo names Mario games than Nintendo itself.

I could only imagine a world where the Super Mario series has a consistent title scheme. Imagine Super Mario Galaxy being called Super Mario Bros. 10.

So does that mean that the following title would’ve been technically correct? Super Mario Advance 3: Super Mario Brothers 5: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island

Now I wanna know Scott's answer to "How many Super Mario games are there?"

Super Mario Brothers Game & Watch getting forgotten about:

I like that the April fools joke here is just a throwaway line lamp shading this channel

It’s funny knowing there’s so many Mario games out there that they need to put them in sub series so that it doesn’t confuse people

Haven't seen the whole vid yet, but if Scott doesn't mention "I Am A Teacher: Super Mario Sweater", we riot.

How fitting this releases at the dawn of the new “Super Mario Bros Movie” subseries.

i cant believe he didnt talk about the i am a teacher super mario sweater series! i thought he knew everything about mario

Should be noted that the beta version of Yoshi's Island discovered through the big Nintendo gigaleak a few years back is called Super Mario Bros. 5. So yes, it is 100% a mainline Mario game.

I was hoping the Mario movie would establish that Mario and Luigi's last name is "Brothers".

Mario Brothers and Luigi Brothers

0:16 - now that is the kind of shit I tune in for

13:35 Using “schtick” and “spiel” in the same sentence feels like destiny. They were just meant to be together.

"we're talking about crap that doesn't even remotely matter"

My favourite sub-series of Scott videos

23:05 iirc these are two projects that were often confused with each other. Mario 64 2 (the planned sequel to Mario 64) was first, then it kinda faded into the background around when the Mario 128 tech demo was revealed separately. Did You Know Gaming did a video semi-recently where they talked about it called "The Biggest Cancelled Games of the 90s Ft. ‪@ Caddicarus‬"

Super Mario Bros 2 (USA) was actually a Mario Bros prototype that got rejected, then finished as Doki Doki, then reskinned into a Mario bros game again for the USA...

Donkey Kong Banaza is definitely a sequel (prequel?) to Odyssey, which means that the mainline Mario series has officially wrapped back around to being part of the Donkey Kong series.

18:45 fun fact: the "shin" in Shin Megami Tensei means "truth", but it sounds the exact same as a Japanese word that means "new". This is an intentional pun that was done by Atlus when they rebooted their old Megami Tensei games (thus the name is in concept very similar to New Super Mario Bros.). When SMT3 got localised and released outside of Japan, nobody got the pun, so now non-Japanese people call the entire franchise by the name of the reboot lol
