Best comment I ever read about this song: "It´s called Dance of Eternity because it would take you eternity to figure out how to dance to it"

illumination theory in the same live concert is out of this world + _ +

You would love "The Count of Tuscany", James Labrie sings on this one.

"I'm gonna have to listen to this about 100 times..."

It has begun!

In an interview with John Petrucci (guitar), he and John Myung (bass) have been buddies since they were kids. They had a pact with each other that they'd practice 6 hours per day, and they trusted each other so much in this that if they saw each other at a party or something, there was a moment where they knew, "yeah, you've earned this party, you've practiced 6 hours today!"

I've always wondered what the orchestra members were thinking

"What the hell was that?!"

That was the most eargasm inducing, brain melting, progressive metal you will ever hear in your life.

If you're curious. Yes, there are 108 different time signatures in this masterpiece

If you want a song that defines this band musically, you'd listen to Breaking all illusions. Either studio version or live from the same show as this one.

Agreed. This song is just freakin' insane how complex it is but they are remain tight from start to finish. Amazing!😃

The Glass Prison by Dream Theater is GOD MODE musicianship. Please check it out.

The time signature changes 108 times in this song. A musical journey like no other

Dream Theater 🤘🏻 the greatest band you never heard of!

This whole DVD is pure gold. Breaking the Forth Wall has an amazing sound.

Great introduction to DT for you. They are from New York. The bassist , guitarist and original drummer met at the Berklee Conservatory of Music in Boston. The current keyboard player also from New York was trained at Juilliard. All of them are at the top of their field. They do have a vocalist although his voice is kind of shot now for live performances. Had some type of vocal chord injury. Keep exploring their catalogue. The cut you played was from their seminal album Metropolis Part 2- Scenes From A Memory. Play the album from start to finish and you will be hooked for life.

They are all masters at what they do.   I seen them live and it's mesmerizing.

Go check out the full Dream Theater drummer audition videos.

Love the fact that the drummer is playing crazy and keeping up, and the keyboardist is also keeping up, the 6 string bassist is keeping up with the 7 string guitarist. That is so crazy but love it. Whether you like it or not you have to admit that they are all amazing musicians

You should check out the original Dream theater drummer Mike Portnoy explaining all the time signature changes in this song

Seriously talented musicians here.  Jordan Rudess (keys) was Julliard trained, John Petrucci (guitar), John Myung (bass), and Mike Portnoy (original drums) first formed the band at Berklee College of Music in Boston.  Mike Mangini (present drummer) matriculated and instructed at Berklee as well.
