Jordan Rudess's little Rag-time piano break is one of my favorite bits in the tune

Someone I am sure has already mentioned but Petrucci is NOT classically trained. Highschool theory, then Berklee for 1 year, dropped out to follow his dreams. He's just a FREAK and OBSESSED with guitar.

Dream Theater is what happens when a bunch of virtuosos on their instruments gather up to form a band.

The whole time you were watching, I could tell you were counting the time signatures.

If you've ever seen them live John Myung's bass lives in the middle of your chest the whole concert. Talk about an experience!

The orchestra used for this concert is fully utilized, in my opinion, for the song, "Illumination Theory". That song hits soo different with the orchestra, its amazing. If you can, I highly recommend giving it a listen, maybe not a video, since its a 20 minute song.

You can see the pain in his eyes at the start trying to work out the time signature lol

"Pull me under" is the song that threw me down the Dream Theater rabbit hole.
Amazing song

This was in Boston. Considering the band formed at Berklee, the orchestra is not some director pulling out their best people, it's literally the kids at Berklee were invited to come out and played with Dream Theater. Having said that, those Berklee symphony kids are flipping AWESOME! So... there's that. I was at this show and it was amazing. Loved hearing Space Dye Vest live. So glad they filmed it.

"Octavarium" and "A Change Of Seasons" by Dream Theater are my recommendations :)

You were about to describe the feeling you had during the ragtime break and I said to myself, "Joy" right before you said you felt joyous. Dream Theater has made me feel that way for almost 30 yrs now. Peace.
