Fun fact, I also have celiac. You don't just get better in a night. That's 3 days of indescribable pain in the guts. That's memory failing and hair falling out. That person did damage that will take years to fully repair.

For the Sold House story, knowingly selling a house that had a required 18k repair and failing to disclose could be considered fraud. Post doesn't have enough context to say to sure. Yeah, the inspector should have caught it, and the buyer is also a dick, but going after the boomer seller here is 100% correct. It's like if you bought a car from a dealership, and it turns out it had a bad transmission, and the dealers knew that and just didn't tell you.

Oz the reason the previous owner is liable is because he installed the roof himself and it failed prematurely most likely because he isn't a trained roofer and made amateur mistakes. He's human it happens but that's why roofers keep insurance

My dad had my ears pierced as a baby without my mom's knowledge.
She called him a f'n idiot and within a week I had eaten the earrings.

18:54 This is 100% on the Boomer previous owner. People seem to misunderstand what the inspector can and cannot do. They can go everywhere and look at everything. They CANNOT remove roofing to see if everything was installed correctly, open up walls to check that electrical was run correctly, dig up the yard to make sure the irrigation system has no leaks. There is NO WAY that inspector could have known that anything, let alone everything, under the well laid shingles/roofing was done incorrectly.

The improper installation of the roofing is 100% on the previous owner because 1) he did it himself, quite poorly and possibly without a permit, and 2) failed to disclose that fact to the people buying the house this denying them the chance to have actual roofers come out and inspect the roof. Boomer is a complete scumbag.

Nah the previous homeowner is 100% in the wrong on that story. OP mentions "ice and water" not being installed, which is the Tyvek sheet that goes under the shingles and you would never find if you werent tearing shingles off to do the roof repair

Oz, the Boomer is in the wrong. The inspector doesn't usually do deep checks before sales. Which is sad. But the BOOMER knew how it had been installed and had to have known in those 10 years that the roof leaks. He had money to repair that in those 10 years before he sold the house and the 2nd house as OP stated.
The Boomer sold a house and did not disclose the repairs being done by non professionals, and thus very likely not up to code either. OP has every right to go after them.

Regarding the boomer and the baby girl, I often dressed my daughter in pink, and she still got called a boy when we went out because she was a little baldie as an infant and wouldn't keep headbands or bows on, and I would just throw "she" or "her" into the conversation. Sometimes people picked up on my subtle correction, sometimes they didn't. I sure as heck wasn't going to have a meltdown over it.
That guy was so out of line for yelling about not being corrected.
Oh, and I think piercing babies ears is unnecessarily cruel, let them get older and decide themselves when they understand the pain that comes with piercings. It's pretty common where I live, but it's mostly a cultural thing with the large hispanic population.

Unfortunately, babies getting their ears pierced is a regular thing. My parents actually bragged about not getting my ears pierced when I was a baby because it was a trend back then for girls. My issue with it is that the baby can't consent to it. My family waited until I was old enough to consent and do the proper care for a body modification.

Another reason for why some of the younger generation are not as computer-savvy as you would expect is the growing “digital divide”.  When there are students writing multipage essays on iPhones because that is the tech that they have access to, it’s hard to blame them for not knowing things like how file structures work.

Celiac wheat story, holy hell PLEASE for the love of god if your kid is vomiting green and you can manage it go to the emergency room.  Vomiting green is bad, your body is designed so food can't come back up through the intestine.  If it's coming back up that way, there could be a potential blockage.  If you can't afford the hospital I get that, it's pricey especially in the USA.  And to be fair mainly all the hospital does when I have a blockage is put me on a nothing diet with IV, but at least there's monitoring and scans to make sure nothing is bursting and I'm not getting sepsis.  (Yes, I've had intestinal blockages in the past, vomiting green, especially in conjunction with not making bowel movements or difficulty making any is indicative of this.)

Edit; replies have explained to me the OP actually said 'vomiting AND green', which I appreciate thank you.

Actually the boomer is in the wrong in the sold house story, he is legally required to disclose the roof thing. Also acording to the roofer you'd need to have torn the roof open to see the problem, which the inspector isn't going to do.

Just had to stop watching to mention my boomer mom, who is an informatic engineer and has learned every new coding language used in her industry to date since the 80's. She taught me excel, ctrl+v and most used shortcuts, and some computer logic.

She Is eager to learn new stuff and easily uses a smartphone. She has some trouble with user oriented stuff because of the way she has learned to interact with machines.

By contrast, my boomer dad is a mechanical engineer who seldom interacts with computers at all. He also has learned to fluently use his smartphone and basic data management in office. Shortcuts and all.

Most of their friends struggle with all that and seem really bothered and frustrated with technology in general. Most of them have degrees and all.

This convinces me that boomers not knowing how to use technology Is a willingness issue. They're not dumb. They're not too old. They just can't admit to being too lazy or entitled or ignorant to even try.

My mother pierced my ears as a baby, horrible idea, I turned out to be allergic to nickel and it was done by a “family friend” and got infected. The funniest part? My mom is APPALLED that my brother and I got more piercings done. What did she expect?

Fun fact; you don’t even need celiac disease for gluten to make you feel yucky. “Non-celiac gluten sensitivity” is an actual thing (I work for a doctor as a medical scribe and she taught me this). My point? Dont feed people things they don’t want. Like, Jeez

Sadly, all printers are possessed.

25:31 I regret to inform you this is indeed a thing. Ear piercings and giant bows until the poor kid’s hair grows in. There’s also a kid’s salon chain called “pigtails and crew cuts” and I imagine asking for a gender neutral cut would get the same reaction.

i heard stories from a teacher how they had several middle-high school students that didn't understand that "on the computer" and "on the internet" were not the same thing D:

Girl babies having their ears pierced is super common and I think it's absolutely shameful and dangerous.

Sold House - Actually, the inspector absolutely did his job. Inspections are only visual, and if it was done to look right, that's a failure on the previous owner. Especially if it wasn't disclosed that he did the roof himself. That's fraud. The repair would have required an inspection which I can guarantee he didn't get done. Again: Fraud. I honestly think the couple's real estate agency (if they used one) failed them.

People pierce little kids ears so often which is wrong. A lot of shops refuse to do it at all in the UK so people just go to Claire's to get it done.
