Ironically during the 2nd World War, Welsh speaking radio operators could openly talk over the radio and the Germans could not understand a single word of it, much like the native American Indians who spoke their native language in the Pacific War against the Japanese. Simple and Ingenius.

The national anthem of Wales is literally about the country fighting to keep their culture and their language alive despite the efforts to kill it. Resistant and defiant even when under the boot of the English. Refusing to just lay down and die.

"First god made England, Ireland and Scotland then he corrected his mistakes and made Wales"
Katherine Hepburn

Proud Welsh lady here, we get this everywhere we go. People always think we are English, we say NO we are WELSH and we always get that vacant ‘where’ look 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

I've moved around the UK a lot in my life and moved to Wales 4 years ago to settle down.  It is in my eyes, the most beautiful and mystical country I've ever been to.  It's very rugged and you can feel the history.
I also see it as having the best of all worlds.  I live in South Wales where I'm no more than 10 minutes away from beaches AND mountains as well as cities and tiny villages.

I’m an extremely proud Welsh woman. Thank you for making this. We are a hidden gem on planet Earth ♥️

I've moved to Wales and let me tell you.. it's amazing, beautiful country and nice people

Tolkien loved the Welsh Language and based the Elvish language in Lord of the Rings on it........ Here's a little quote from him... “Welsh is of the soil, this island, the senior language of the men of Britain; and Welsh is beautiful.”

I've lived in north Wales my whole life. I was always upset when Americans say England when refering to the UK. Thank you for this video.

I'm Welsh 🙌.  My first language is Welsh and it's beautiful.   Mae hen wlad fy nhadau yn annnwyl i mi.   Please listen to the Welsh National anthem, you will feel the passion without understanding the words. 😊

To those wondering what Welsh looks like, here is a section of our national anthem: Mae hen wlad fy nhadau yn annwyl i mi,
Gwlad beirdd a chantorion, enwogion o fri;
Ei gwrol ryfelwyr, gwladgarwyr tra mâd,
Tros ryddid gollasant eu gwaed.
Gwlad, Gwlad, pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad,
Tra môr yn fur i'r bur hoff bau,
O bydded i'r heniaith barhau.

I love wales, i was born in Portsmouth and spent my childhood in and around portsmouth and moved to Reading at age 11, i hated it in Reading so much so that when i met my welsh ex husband, i jumped at the chance to move to wales in 1999, ive been in wales ever since and consider myself welsh (i do have welsh roots too, my father was welsh), i have to say, the people are so friendly here, they welcomed me and ive never felt so at home as i do in wales, my accent is changing too, i speak with the same cadence and colloquialisms as the welsh, wales is where my heart is, its my home ❤

I am from North wales I am fluent in welsh  it a beautiful country the land of songs as they say you should listen to the Welsh anthem and the choirs so beautiful live watching you learn about Britain

Also missed out that the Tudors were partly Welsh & also that Elisabeth 1 to stop people wandering about the country brought in laws but exempted Welsh wandering poets (bards) if they could prove their expertise at poems and song writing. Was proved by holding a festival of bards called Eisteddfod  which still goes on today.

Thanks for showing our proud Welsh history

There is a lot more to Wales than this short history lesson my friend and how we have reached out and touched all four corners of this planet but, it is the beauty of the land and the people will leave a life long impression on anyone that ventures. We have impacted on cultures around the with actors and musicians, politicians and pirates and our biggest love, sports, rugby being our national sport with football(soccer) closely following being a nation of only 3.5 million we always punch above our weight.

A lot of Welsh people moved to America during the early colonial period, especially to the Welsh Tract in Pennsylvania, which at one point almost became an offically Welsh speaking state. Also there is the legend of Madoc, a Welsh prince, who according to legend sailed to what is now the USA in the medieval period settling in the Virginia area and mixing with the local native americans. There is still a Welsh speaking part of Argentina due to migration from Wales.

As a Welsh person I  liked this

A quick point of information from a Cymro. The correct name of my country is Cymru. We are Cymry (The people). The term "Welsh" means "strangers" and was introduced by the English when they imposed the name "Wales" upon us many years ago. A large number of Cymry speak Cymraeg (the language of heaven). BTW Cymry means fellow countryman (in English). We speak our mother tongue every day and in all situations. The language has equal validity in law with English which we call Yr Iaith Fain (the thin language). We are very proud of our Nationality and many of us strive to achieve our independence from England one day. A famous Cymro wrote in song "Ryn i yma o hyd" (We're still here) notwithstanding all and everyone!

I'm about an hour and a half from Wales and go there quite regularly to ride my mountain bike or go hiking. Absolutely bloody beautiful country! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
