President Donald Trump says America’s biggest tech companies can “self-police” artificial intelligence following a major White House meeting with some of the industry’s most powerful figures.
Trump described a voluntary AI safety accord signed by tech leaders as “morally binding” and compared it to “a constitution”, arguing that the companies involved can help keep the technology safe without sweeping federal mandates.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei were among the executives discussing AI safety, regulation and the risks posed by rapidly advancing technology.
