I'll probably go back to deadbolts.  The only reason I liked the C-788s was the splash damage, and if that's gone, the only thing they have going for them is a high alpha.  I'll take slightly less alpha if it means being able to put twice as many rounds into a target in the same time frame.

They have zero idea on what they are doing with mechanics and gunplay

I'd like to see the same test with staggered fire if you don't mind making another video.

They really want the fights to go on forever don’t they….

The big difference is in the ability to take out armor on big ships through shields. Thats what the alpha is for, and at size 4 there isnt much else that comes close to it.

I think of it more like a size 4 railgun than a cannon with how speeds are atm.

You take it for big target versatility, and with nothing else really being an option for that (size 4 deadbolts pretty much need the shields down to start dealing damage to stuff like a hammerhead) of course it is popular.

Why wouldnt you want to be able to take on anything?

You forgot to mention they also remove the explosive damage off of the C-788’s.  It was part of the reason they were so effective about bringing down shields and dealing component damage.

Also depends on where you hit, and how consistently. This is a fantastic test on paper and always appreciated, but only represents 100% accuracy and 100% time-on-target. It will hurt much worse if you miss shots with the C-788s now, compared to the deadbolts, but the 788s used less ammo overall to destroy the Connie. Not just in shots fired, but total ammo load. 788s used ~10.741% and the deadbolts used ~12.105%. With the bigger pen values and radii, the 788s are doing more overall damage. I think they're both great still, and much closer now for PU dogfights to where the 788 doesn't just overly dominate. Both can still snipe components though, and should likely still be paired with energy weapons to bring down shields faster. (ballistics do more damage the lower the shields are, and they dont do their full amount to the shields either)

Nice, one thing to think of also is that the C-788 use way less ammo so you dont have to rearm all the time

Damn, and I just crafted some C-788's that gave me a nice boost in damage.

gilly 6 mission with c788... constellation just died after like 4 5 shots sometimes, kiling pilots inside. never happened with deadbolts

I would be interested to see how they each did in a mixed loadout with lasers to take down shields. If you don't have to overcome the shields, maybe the deadbolt wouldn't overheat as much.

Nice job 😊

I guess I'll go back to deadbolts, was fun while it lasted like so many other things in this game, lol

Tragic that they took away the splash, its what made them cool. I would be totally fine if they hit the alpha/pen but kept the splash so they were good for shredding the hull and damaging external parts like guns and engines. There’s gotta some shrapnel flak gun in the verse afterall

😀😀😀 cool info to star citizen

would interesting how they compare when focusing on PP

👍

Definitely some decisions to be made - higher alpha and pen but lower DPS for the C-788's?  Personally, I've always stuck with the Deadbolts but it is good to know in case I ever decide to take on Capitals
