13:30 The last time she let a disobedient subordinant go free, she got pushed in front of a train.

Chat is straight up spreading misinformation. There's no nazi ideology in that universe.

9:49 WW1, not WW2. There are no Nazi’s in WW1.

It's not Isekai Nazis, it's Isekai WW1. There being a massive disparity with technology and tactics not having caught up with the new tech happened in real history too, when WW1 broke out there were still cavalry units, people realised pretty quickly on the field those weren't much good against machine guns.

Also, the story is hilarious. With these reactions you get the impression that Tanya is all gung ho about war, when it's the opposite. She at various points tries to get injured and honourably discharged, get cushy management jobs far away from the front lines etc etc, but she keeps accidentally overperforming and "promoted" to special ops.

It's the same with the "training" she does, she dresses it up as being a tough drill instructor but she was just trying to get them to quit so she could say "well I would have loved to put the special ops team together and go to war with them but I can't find suitable personnel". And again, she completely against her intentions instead succeeds creating a platoon of nut jobs that can keep up with her.

The other comedic bit is that she's so committed to being an atheist that she's literally arguing about god's existence with God (or allegedly God anyway, I didn't finish the LNs but there's pretty good reason to believe Tanya is actually correct and it's just some particularly powerful being, not capital G god).

1:11 that chatter. I'm mad immediately. No. Its WWI! Yeah, yeah its a joke but its completely incorrect.

They let Tanya in because she had magic, and legally there was no minimum age of enlistment for mages. The guy who let her in probably assumed she'd flunk out of training but, well, Tanya.

Also, this is WW1, so "Loli Hitler" is an extremely misleading descriptor. "Loli Red Baron" is closer.

It's unfortunate that everyone just assumes pre-painter Germany was the same as WW2 Germany.

CJ didn't really cover the story fully.  Tanya was reincarnated by "Being X" cause he didn't have faith in God.  If she dies again other than from old age, she doesn't get any more reincarnations and her soul is destroyed.  So he decided to put her in dire straights to try and get her to pray to him.  She joined the military to literally climb the ranks and have a safe job doing paperwork, but Being X keeps fucking that up for her.  She's got a lot more moments of her being human to her subordinates than what is portrayed here in CJ's vid.

Oh, and the names are very close in terms of nations and cities to Earth.  Paris is Parisee or something like that.  The USA is the Unified States of America, etc.

21:22 she never does anything illegal. That’s why she is a good character to read/watch.

The parallels are that it’s WW1, but Tanja knows history and uses WW2 tactics. It’s a bit annoying reading everyone saying hitler and saying WW2 when it has nothing really to do with it except that the USSR was founded before the war and not during/after. Everything in the world politics is WW1 from borders and diplomacy.

Let’s not forget that the empire is fighting a defence war; every other country starts attacking the empire one after another; the only conflict the empire starts is against a small country I will not mention as it’s spoilers.

To be fair here CJ's video paints her waaaay worse than she actually is, she is a very strict military commander that is always by the book and always operates under international law.

The guy who got fired actually deserved it. He was given multiple chances but didn't really do anything with those chances.

15:46 So he did not cover this part much, but back in WW1 era, resuscitation was not even a concept yet. They thought that man was dead because he was not breathing, so when Tanya made that guy breathe again everyone else straight up thought that she pulled that guy from death's hands and were horrified that she could do that.

Cj did a disservice to the anime, Tanya was never a warmonger, a psycho or evil in the sense of being really evil. He is pragmatic and follows the idea that everything has rules, and rules must be followed. If a God is saying that people are losing faith in Gods, if that said "God" is not doing anything about the misery of the world and really just using it as means as getting hope and faith power, then it is a Chuthulu like "Mysterious Agent X". God got really salty about that and sent him to a parallel world of WW1 Germany with magic wanting him know the glory of God, let it that forcing him to fight with holy magic he have to use forcibly or fighting in their name (Yes, the light novel and manga has a lot of gods, Buddha and God etc.). If he dies in any way aside of old age, he will go to an unending hell and have his soul deleted.

Tanya still follows modern values and ideas, meaning real wars are not fought with people in the fray, but warships, planes, drones, bombs, nukes, where infantry soldiers are really just numbers and not the main fighting force.

Technically, nothing Tanya does is a war crime. In the same way nothing Canada does  in war is a war crime. But you know after the war, entire new sections of the Geneva Convetions are gonna be written because of her (just like Canada)

8:00 Drives me a little nuts when chat falls into that trap of "Let's oversimplify quickly, even if it's a flat-out lie".

How much more effort would it have taken to say, "Alternate Earth where magic exists." instead of "she has magic" which makes Tanya sound like just another isekai protagonist who was reincarnated with "Super Speshul OP-Hax Magic powers!"?

Know what, Eff it, I'll do it.

Basically, for SOME reason (which is elaborated on in the light novel and manga) God himself decides to F--k with that Japanese salaryman, for the explicit purpose of...making the guy acknowledge that the being speaking to him IS God-with-a-captial-G, and not just "Mysterious Being X", and that's why the salaryman gets reincarnated as a little girl in an alternate version of early 1910's Europe, where magic exists.

But that wasn't enough to make Tanya acknowledge God, who is just a PETTY MF, and he continually keeps screwing with her, putting her in situations where she's forced to either acknowledge him or at least PRETEND to acknowledge him, or die.  That random soldier, and then his daughter Mary Sue?  Both empowered/sent visions from God to kill Tanya, because (makes a rude gesture, the one that looks like shaking a salt-shaker) "REASONS".

Calling her a Nazi off the rip is so wrong. Everyone saying that shit in chat was ignorant and probably never watched it. The anime is so good. The part about how the powers work too is the main story about why she fights so hard. Even the body that she was put in is part of the story.

Tanya the GOAT

Results speak for themselves.
Tanya is all about results because she wants to rise through the ranks and get herself into a cozy position.
The problem is she's too good at her job.
She also keeps getting stuck with people who can't deliver and stall her climb.

being something of a history nerd made me love this series a lot
