My grandparents were cleaning out the basement and had a big old JVC TV they were gonna throw out. I now have it just for my retro games.

I never abandoned the CRT. There wasn't a single day in my life in which I didn't have at least one CRT at home.

I just bought a 1986 Sears TV for my Classic 80’s Nintendo Setup. Still works perfect and makes playing Nintendo look and feel how it used to in the 1980’s!

The N64 is the one console that most benefits from a CRT.  I have struggled so hard to get a decent picture on my LCD TV and high end scaler

Love my CRT, playing NES and SNES games on it just feels right. My CRT was also missing the remote, luckily for me I have a Wii U and the gamepad has a built in tv remote, it was so handy!

Excellent job on this sir. I had so much fun watching this. You got a new subscriber.

Seeing Dragonball GT playing on a CRT really took me back. It looked so good!

Also, I thought I was the only one with the TV 6th sense as a kid😂

Not sure how it works elsewhere, but in my neighborhood in middle of nowhere Iowa the last garbage day of every other month is a "bulky waste" pick up day. You can drag furniture, tvs, and whatever else to the curb and they'll pick it up. I usually leave for work early on those mornings so i can snake my way up and down the roads through my area and grab whatever catches my eye before the garbage trucks make their rounds. I currently have 4 crts that Ive grabbed off the curb, a 20 inch toshiba af44, two 14 inch rca truflats (black one with component inputs, and a silver one with svideo) and a 30 inch phillips widescreen hdcrt with component/svideo/and hdmi. Ive found maybe 15 other "lesser" models over the past couple years that i passed along to friends or coworkers or whoever that mentioned they'd like to have one. I'll usually snatch up any crts I see sitting out, sure ive pickup a few over the years that didnt work, in which case i just sit them out on my curb on the next bulk garbage day.

Bulky waste day has also provided every lawnmower and snowblower I've ever had 😂 Its also outfitted my garage workshop with cabinets I grabbed off the curb when 2 different neighbors remodeled their kitchens.

0:51 Sonic 2, Jurrasic Park, and Operation Europe! Those three and perhaps Ms. Pac-Man are the only Genesis games I had as a kid! On the topic of physical media, we had Sega Channel, an early "digital streaming service" so-to-speak, so we didnt acquire a large physical library on that console. I have since obtained most all my favorites that I played back then.

Operation Europe was my Dad's favorite on the Genesis, so he had bought his own copy to play when it became unavailable when the game selection would switch.

He died 10 years ago. On his Birthday or sometimes Father's Day.  I boot it up and have a go at it. It still has his save files on it. I was able to complete a scenario on my last run.

He used to keep notepads with all his units and supplies to keep everything in order when he played. I still enjoy busting out a notepad for passwords and quick maps or logs to help get through games.

I still have the TV I used for my PS1 and 2 back in the day. Works just as well now as it did back then, and the games still look good on it :)

The Zenith Licorice DeLight E0930S has been one of the nicest finds I’ve secured over the years. Super cozy 9 inch screen with a headphone jack and a handle built into the top (reminds me of the GameCube a bit). It truly is an “on the go” CRT. So retro I love it

No elevator?
Well im here now ding

So funny man. I'm 35. Ditched all crts for a magnavox 32 inch "HD" TV for my ps3 when I was around 18. Last year picked up 3 crts and have been working on a bunch of games I missed out on growing up ever since. I play mostly on steam deck still, but the crts are still awesome

I have a 36” JVC D Series, a few Sony Trinitron consumer sets, a PVM-14L5, a BVM-A20F1U, and a BVM-20F1U. I’m good for life

I agree with all this. I exclusively and only use RF for all my hookups as well. With a good VCR you'll get a really nice signal for RF because they have built in modulators. But, in the end just play games in anyway that you can enjoy it.

As an enthusiast it’s great to see people get into CRTs I have a bunch a duo of multisync pc monitors, my Toshiba 14AF44

most of all my entirely lagless multisync 480p and 540p/1080i 34 inch Panasonic Tau HD crt it’s widescreen and has two HD components plus an HDMI CT-34WX54J.

I highly recommend you pick up a proper High resolution CRT at some point if you ever want another tube I use mine for playing indie games trust me modern content on one will blow your mind!

The best part of having a CRT is the motion clarity. When the framerate is locked at 60, it's like looking through a window - it's only approached, not matched, by OLED's pixel response times. Black Frame Insertion/extremely high refresh rates & response times are pretty dang close, but CRT is still undefeated, and you can feel it.

And even when the game/media runs at a lower framerate, each frame you do get is still much more legible than what you'd get on most displays most people are using. I'll drop CRT the moment something actually matches my CRT monitors, and the CRT TV I have in the computer room with classic systems connected to it.

Also, automatically-lowest-input lag is a bonus. And very good color and contrast.

Hi man, great video, I been on that road for several years now, if you can get 16-bit era consoles, games really take advantage of a nice CRT if you can get HD retrovision for the SNES and the genesis (try to get a Genesis 2 to avoid buying a adapter) everything looks beautiful with those cables. The Saturn can also be connected with the retrovision and for a Dreamcast try the S-video but you will need an adapter that also has VGA. It’s a lot of money but one step at a time 🎉

Haha I loved everything about this. We both had the same experience, from carrying the CRT ourselves to the car and finding a new TV stand that could hold its weight. There's only one TV where I live now and it's a CRT to play my old games as I don't watch TV. I would definitely check the flyback on that TV because that ticking noise sounds like electrical arcing so be careful not to set your place on fire. It's been said in the comments but don't put your hands anywhere near the anode cap (the suction cup on the tube) as it's where you could get zapped if you don't discharge it first.

God  I would love to get a crt to play my Wii N64 and to start off more retro collecting right itd also be sick to watch some older anime’s on
