Can You Beat Mario Sunshine Without Spray Nozzle?

Bringle

Super Mario Sunshine's water spraying mechanics with FLUDD are honestly incredible and have held up really well- so how hard would it be to beat the game without using FLUDD's default 'Spray Nozzle'?

I attempted this challenge 5 years ago on an old YouTube channel, so now I finally gave it the proper video it truly deserved :)

30:21 "I love this game, I really do, I just don't know why sometimes." I'm glad somebody finally put how I feel about this game into words.

To that guy wondering who Bowser Jr.'s real mom is in the chat, keep in mind that the storks is how babies are delivered in Mario, and they're canonically both stupid and incompetent, so it's entirely possible they brought a baby to Bowser because they thought him and Peach were a couple because of how much time she spends with him, willingly or not.

The "nose" is Gooper Blooper's siphon! A siphon is the way some sea creatures breathe, like gills or a mouth and nose. Technically on most cephalopods the siphon is on the side of the head but for seemingly forever folks in Japan have stylized it into a little o mouth (which I think is cute.) So is that its nose? Yes, except no, but mostly yes.

The Squirt Squad sounds like something that Gooner Guy and Francis would be apart of.

Mario is looking a lot less flat than I remember him being

love how you detailed such a complicated strategy to do the supposedly impossible section before revealing...

2:25 Somewhere on the path to Petey after the bridge, there's a Pianta who acknowledges you skipping the Gooey Piranha, so Petey being there is fully intentional.

your efforts to ceaselessly call Petey Piranha "Peter" are commendable

I have literally never used the Spray Nozzle on Eely-Mouth, or even considered doing it for that matter. I thought you pretty much just had to use the Hover Nozzle and nothing else.

The amount of mental anguish in the Secret of the Village Underside simply can't be described.
Exactly the kind of experience I'm here for!

1:20 as someone who only ever played on switch and didn’t know the pressure-sensitive sprays existed, it is nice to know this game was at least 2% less designed by aliens than I thought

Using the hover nozzle to clean the teeth and put out the fire in Corona Mountain is how I usually do it, I didn’t realize you were meant to use the spray nozzle

Being able to fight Petey in Episode 1 is intentional. The guy next to the windmill has a unique line for you going up there early.

I honestly love it when creators take challenges that have already been done before, but turn it on its head like this. There have been multiple Hover Nozel-less runs in the past, so someone saying "but what if I could ONLY use it" is so simple but entertaining

honestly respect to my guy gooper blooper for breaking out the lower class and becoming a suburban homeowner

One of my favorite videos to re-watch has been Alpharad's no hover nozzle video, so I'm glad that this exists to appease my little atypical brain.

Nice, I had done this challenge about 7-8 years back and managed the same you did! Never knew about the fish cheese in corona mountain, I struggled HEAVILY with the boat until i figured out this trick through trial and error:

Just face the direction you want to go, tap and release hover quickly, then the moment you land again, hold hover all the way down. No jumping required. It propels the boat forward very effectively. It is very difficult to control its exact direction and still took quite a lot of attempts, but it's the best I was able to come up with
