Mario Kart Wii is a kart racing game, and like any other game of its genre, it's full of roads that make up each of its tracks. You know what, though? I'm tired of the road. In this video, I beat Mario Kart Wii without touching the road... I mean, kind of. It depends on what you consider "beating the game" and what you consider "road." Can you beat Mario Kart Wii without the road? I'd say you can, and I'd say I did. Here's how.

The jump from "well, the game starts me on the road, so we won't count it until I cross the start line" (totally reasonable concession), to "actually it's fine if I use the road as much as I want to collect items before I start" (blatant cheating) is fascinating

As a fellow challenge runner, I entirely disagree with the idea that using cheese in a challenge is lame or unfair (4:55). That's the point of a challenge - get it done by any means necessary!

The idea of doing this with no road was too interesting to pass up. This is a lot more refreshing than most Mario Kart things I've seen in roughly five months at least. I used to do stuff like this in Mario Kart 8 or Double Dash. Fun fact, if CPUs know you're off the road in balloon battle, they can and will drive all the way out to you to attack you, and then they'll slowly back up and drive away to get back to the road as if nothing happened.
