My favorite

The most haunting moment of the movie for me was during the dream sequence, where Kinderman says to Father Dyer: "Ya know, I wonder if both of us are dreaming this?" To which Dyer replies: "No, Bill...I'm not dreaming..."
That's just chilling, and really a bit of a bummer. Scott and Flanders had such great chemistry, had such a wonderfully authentic rapport with each other. One of the highlights of the film for me was the two of them trading their teasing, slightly barbed, somewhat acerbic, but companionable banter which couldn't conceal the depth of genuine affection and friendship the pair had for one another. It was just so great to watch them bang it back and forth on screen. I've often wished they'd had just one more scene together, to establish the relationship further, as well as to give those two great actors more time to be great actors together. However, pacing demanded that Dyer's death be the inciting incident which moved the plot along to Act 2.
My high school girlfriend and I saw this at the theater on the opening weekend (I recall it was near the end of summer of 1990, because I remember she and I began our first semester at George Washington University just a couple weeks later...just down the road a bit from Georgetown University, as a matter of fact). Yeah, the theater was pretty full, and that jump scare...the entire audience just vaulted toward the ceiling of the theater, like there'd been explosives planted under all of our seats. Best jump scare ever, I've never seen it equaled, totally earned. They teach the composition of that scene at film schools now.

Brad Douriff deserved multiple awards for his performance. Blattey chose It’s a Wonderful Life as a device to demonstrate the detective’s suspicion growing. One of the Gemini’s signatures was adding the double L’s and finding Its a Wonderfull  Life tipped him off.

The Exorcist III is one of my all-time favorite films. And it feels strange to get so specific every time I tell people it's The Exorcist THREE. I always feel the need to unpack the whole backstory about the making of the movie. Anyway, I love everything about it. The dialogue, the characters, the pacing, the eerie atmosphere, the dry humor.... The Exorcist III is one of those films that feels like it was made especially for me. And what else is great is that it's an incredibly adult movie. Most of the actors in the film are from an older generation. And I just love to see older, experienced actors act.

Fave movie channel !!! Your voice is perfect for this

I was still recovering from the cup of ice to be concerned with the nurse and the big scissors

I always assumed that It's a Wonderful Life being in the movie was a sort of contrast of angels vs demons in spiritual warfare.

Great video for a great film.

It's a Wonderful Life was chosen so that extra L could be written in blood on the hospital wall as a hallmark of the Gemini.

The "I was 21 when I died" is referring to Father Karras' age when he jumped to his death at the end of The Exorcist.

The false jump scare was a napping doctor the nurse awoke, not a patient.

Oh and I always assumed "is she staying for dinner or what", the dinner is the fish being made. Kinderman's wife is wearing an apron.

And you are right about the greatest jump scare ever.

My favorite horror film 🙏

Great job! Fantastic movie. Amazing novel. One of my favs for sure.

Excellent and intelligent critique! Now , this is a great film; I first stumbled across it a couple of years ago on the MoviesTv Network and was blown away. And your remarks about that crazy jump scare were spot on. But as a child of the 70’s, gotta disagree with you on the original Exorcist. I saw a theatrical rerelease about 10 years ago, & find it still holds up remarkably well. That damn rotary phone literally made me jump outta my seat and yell “F$&k you you creepy ass phone “. My friends were, of course , both mortified and hysterically laughing at my dumb a$$. Keep up the good work !

Scott killed it in this movie and I prefer the theatrical version better.

Wait …. The old woman was walking with Nurse Allteron (nurse from the hospital) and go to the church when the priest got murdered. …. The killer sounded like an old woman and the priest was administered a drug, was it a coincidence that the nurse was there when he got murdered. Did nurse allteron administer the drug?

Not so fun facts about weirdo Jeff was not on my bingo card for today. 💀 3:00

I ended up loving this movie and it’s easily the best in the franchise. I was expecting it to be a typical possession movie, especially with it being the third installment of The Exorcist franchise. It ended up being so different refreshing though. I wish more supernatural franchises would go off the rails like this one did.

Took your advice and rewatching now.

My interpretation of the "Its A Wonderful Life" is during the opening segments after the dream of falling down a long flight of stairs - Father Dyer recites a passage from the Bible after the scene of helicopters flying.

He says "A light shall shine upon this day, for the lord has been born unto us. And he is called wonderful."

So in an abstract way of thinking my personal take is that it being a wonderful life; it being a "jesus" life could represent profound suffering. A very dry and sarcastic way of putting it, things may have been wonderful at first, but all of it ends in tragedy and excruciating torment.

This just being an initial take, I know it goes much deeper.

This movie is great, but...better than the actual original?
Surely you jest, my dude.
