Adam comes face to face with one of the most menacing robots in all of cinema history. In the Cinema Relics collection archive, Cain from RoboCop 2 survives in two distinct forms: the original stop-motion puppet created by Tippett Studio, and the full size model that fought RoboCop in the film's finale. And 35 years after its creation, the life-size Cain finally has a pair of legs!

One VFX technique that Adam left out - Cain also included an early example of CG animation. I was the animator of the digital Cain face and although the phrase "motion capture" would become the norm later, at the time we called it "performance animation". We did the work at deGraf/Wahrman and sent the result to Tippett to incorporate into their animation. A few years later Phil hired me to run the animation department for Starship Troopers because I had experience with input devices. (Martin Meunier was there, too!)

Robocop 2 was filmed mostly Houston and is cool recognizing areas. Even though edited together to seem all in the same general area, the final fight scene starts of in the George R Brown convention center then the stairs (the stairs was extended) on the outside and building is Williams tower about 8 miles away, then the general area of the fight was near the Wrotham theater, downtown Houston. Also when i first worked downtown I parked at the lot across where the little team was robbing the electronic store.

RoboCop 2 is seriously underarted. Because it's not as good as THE ALL TIME CULT CLASSIC that the original was. IT's still a damn good action sci-fi film, with some problems. But it gets dumped on unfairly just because it had so much to live up to. Cain is incredible, the stop motion is amazing.

i was 12 when this came out on vhs and somehow got to watch it.. Cain gave me my first nightmare that i can remember, even now it's still vivid in my memory! When i woke up i was terrified that it was actually looking through my bedroom window still.
