I worked in this building as an administrator for many years. The name of the building is Strathmore House and yes I have stories regarding ghosts who roamed this building and the surrounding grounds. I also have some photo copies of the building and the interior from around the 1920’s.  I believe Strathmore House was the smallest of several other mansions built by wealthy American families.

It looks like some sort of institution. They ruined it by closing up all the rooms to make more rooms. Scary vibes😊

This property would make lovely luxury apartments.

I was excited after seeing the first 2 rooms as you entered this place, they were gorgeous, then after that to discover the rest was just old offices was such a disappointment. I would've loved to have seen this in its original state.

It’s been government owned since 1954 and years before that a summer residence for wealthy Americans that came up every summer until the crash of 1929.

This area was known as little Pittsburgh sadly only two mansions are left, one that was demolished in 1974 looked like a castle.
These families came every summer and owned acres and acres of land.

I love the house, but I don't like when they turn them into businesses. Looks like this was some sort of medical facility.  Would have loved to see it in its original state. The flooring, the doors, the lighting. etc. Ugh!  It takes away from the beauty of the original features.  By the way, that basement is creepy.

They should restore it and turn it into a museum. People will pay to tour it. There are a couple of Victorian mansion museums in my town that people can tour. They are really awesome.

beautiful place i worked there as a cleaner 30yrs ago. would have been a great place as a home back when it was first built. the Americans use to come to the area for the summer this was their summer homes, were a lot of this style of houses in this area that got tore down for the building of this government business. 13:33 this area use to be the reception area use to be a big desk there. 11:05 on this mantel use to be a very old grandfather clock  was beautiful made of the same wood as the mantel , 17:44 this area was known as the nurses station,  it was kept locked at all times you had to buzz the nurses to get in for safety reasons, there was rummers that this place is haunted by a lady. and the other area  the school is haunted , experiences stuff in that building, as it was built on  property that house one of these older mansions too.  great explore nice to see the old place.

Everyone talks about renovating these old buildings. Where I live the municipality decided to renovate the old high school my parents attended during the 1940s which had sought vacant since around 1960, and turn it into the municipal headquarters.

It ended up costing more than constructing a new building. Bear in mind that elevators have to be installed today in order to make buildings handicap accessible.

It's not as easy as everyone thinks to renovate a building of this age, and if it's done with tax dollars those who make the decision have to be prepared to face the consequences of angry taxpayers, especially if a new building could be constructed for less money.

Wow!  What a great place!  At one time before it becoming commercially used it was absolutely grand!  I just love the beautiful details that were used when this place was built!  Thank you for your explore and showing us this mansion!
