LAAT/LE looks more like a tie fighter no wonder the Galactic Empire kept them even after the Clone Wars

A big BTS fact you forgot is that these, and the Coruscant Police, were originally designed for 1313 and the designs were given to the Clone Wars team for parity between contemporary productions, but ultimately 1313 was cancelled.

I’ve always thought it would be cool to see them alongside regular gunships in actual combat situations. Think a little bird helicopter alongside a Blackhawk helicopter.

Mom: we have an LAAT at home.

The LAAT/LE is the Republic/ Empires equivalent of an MH-6 little bird in real life. Small and cramped, but perfect for stealth operations and other unorthodox missions.

oddly enough in the animated shows you can only see these things transporting like 3-6 troops meanwhile in live action it becomes a clown car with two of them being able to deploy atleast 15 troops each. I like the idea of the gunship being able to atleast ferry a full squad rather then a 4 man team.

It's smaller size likely helps it fly through city streets. Cheaper, too. For a lot of domestic situations, you really don't need the full firepower of the LAAT. Smart choice for a vehicle.

A very long ass service history.

One of my fav ship designs tbh. Can’t wait for this build in this summer’s Lego battle pack

Something I don’t see anyone talk about: There are two different variants of the LAAT/le. There’s the version seen in The Clone Wars and Rebels, and the version seen in Jedi Fallen Order, which is in the thumbnail of this video.

Absolutely love the idea of these being used as a special forces craft. Big enough troop carrying capacity for a small team with enough firepower to provide a bit of fire support.

On the question “When you want to use an gunship on your own citizens”. I’m guessing they were use on heavily-armed gangs, pirates, or vehicles in crime-ridden areas even before the Empire.

This LAAT would make one hell of a tiny home for someone if properly redesigned with a wider body and at least 20’ in length. Imagine a 20’ shipping container

What I don’t understand about this ship is why it’s actually called an LAAT/le, because since it’s so much smaller in every dimension it cannot be on the same platform as the LAAT/i. It doesn’t make sense to give a ship on a different platform the same designation,

I can easily picture these gunship be made in the near future with both current and new technology.

Jedi Fallen Order uses a different model for these that has armored collector panels on the sides and top and a different rear design without the turret, probably as a way to not render it in as you never see the rear or top of the vehicle in game.
