Anyone can end up in prison, anyone! It’s when you keep going back and back, that’s when something is wrong

I was awarded 6 weeks in the Colchester army detention centre in the mid-1970s. i was 17 years old, and it gave me a short, sharp shock i needed.

When I went to prison, my Mum told everybody I'd moved abroad.  And then a few weeks in, my uncle (an osteopath) came in to treat a fellow inmate. That was awkward....

I never been in prison but i was about to go now 2 months ago when i have pleaded guilty ( money laundering in Uk 🇬🇧 ) thanks God the judge suspend the  sentence of 18 months .  I was very scared

The worst bit was telling my family I was going to prison. The look on their faces…..

A '360 degree' turn would take you right back to where you started!

Mate the way you describe the experience of entering your cell with the awkwardness, and then looking out your scratched plastic window to see large factory buildings with bars on the windows. I felt like i was there. You are good at this sort of stuff. Super descriptive and deep. This shit makes me never want to go jail.  Cheers for the vid👍

My first time inside was Ashford Remand Centre in 1985 - as an unconvicted prisoner your visitors could bring you up a can and a half a lager aswell as other various food items  ( visit every day for 15 minutes Mon- Sun

I managed by the skin of my teeth not to go to jail plenty of friends and family have been you explain it so well I've visited nearly every prison in England and a couple in Europe you have a great voice and narrative you could have a career in taking books  and e books good luck bro stay safe

just came across this and was glued to every word you said, thanks a lot for sharing your experience so openly.

Your a natural and sound well educated in chapter and verse at podcasting.
Very informative video mate, and fortunately I've never 'done time' thank fcuk, but been in custody plenty of times.

Prison is a young man's game when U young prison is nothing but when U older it is hard

Thanks for sharing your experiences. Hope you're doing so much better these days ❤

First time first day was horrible when that cell door shut for the first time and the reality sets in. 22 years ago and I still remember it like it was yesterday. we had no tv back then, I had nothing that night apart fro my own thoughts. Not nice!!

How the hell can a prison NOT run an offending behaviour course? I would've thought that would've been the one course that EVERY prison would run?

A 360 degree turn brings you right back to where you were, chief.

I think you mean a 180

I certainly didnt have a TV. Only saw a telly once a week on Monday night ( film). If i was to give anyone advice on going to prison is, USE all the opportunities available . Education, Trades, Cookery, Gardening, Gymnasium. I got a BETTER education in Prison than i EVER got on the outside. Left in 1988/89 and NEVER been back.  Dont end up like some idiots that think its cool to be in there ll the time.

They had an open day at my local magistrate court and we got to be "taken down" from the dock, into the cells and latterly got to walk through a sweatbox parked in the garage.

The stairs down from the dock seemed to go on forever and were pretty steep, then the cells themselves felt like you were at the end of civilisation.  It was very quiet, seemed very far away from the real world, and was very clinical and claustrophobic.  The cells were bare and had almost literally no natural light.  The sweatbox suspension was something else, just look at the thing and it wobbled like jelly.

That was just 15-20 minutes, but I came away with a whole new understanding of why you should always be a "good boy" and not end up in that situation.  It was very unsettling and unnerving even just as a visitor not facing any live court proceedings

I've been in Wandsworth and Scrubs. The key to prison is keeping your head down get a cleaning job and stay away from drugs. Keep yourself fit. And make your cell into a palace rip j clothes for a border in your cell use toothpaste to put empty boxes on the wall to put toothbrush in and other bits. Use a towel as a table cloth and green bedding as  curtains  you can cut this with razer blade "what your bloody fingers" allso put a box on the window cell and feel with fuit and milk keeps it cool bit like a fridge. Build your canteen up and hay presto that's the key to making your stay at HMP alot more comfortable 👌

Great video! Very informative and far more detailed than any other “first day in” video I’ve seen.
Also, I hate it when you find a new channel you like and subscribe to, only to see that the person hasn’t posted anything in ages and has gone radio silent. Are you just taking a break from YouTube, or are you done with it? Unless I’m mistaken, it appears you haven’t posted anything in 4 months.
