"Buy one of these cars if you're not rich" as long as you never intend to be rich 😂

Buy an old Roller. Look rich! What could possibly go wrong? Repairs, servicing and running costs, anyone? Oh dear.

Buying an Astra for £37k is insane.  Buying any of these cars with oil prices so high is also insane.  So to recap, it's a mad world.

4.2 TDi LWB Audi A8 - savage torque, good mpg, and great reliability

12 years ago I got an ex-demo Audi S8 Plus (75% off list price!). It was 18 months old, full dealer warranty and fully loaded with all the toys. Heated, ventilated, massage (25 programs) seats and 605bhp!!! With the double glazed windows it's whisper quiet until you push the drive select from D to S and then it's like having a second car: quiet cruiser to mentalist at the flick of a switch.
This is the longest I've ever owned a car and I've always tried to shun the boring mainstream things but I don't ever see myself in anything else now. Maybe an older Bentley or RR as I get older and need even more level of comfort. For now, I'm glad I lost my hair early so I can pretend I'm Jason Statham in The Transporter films LOL.

Can't believe how cheap those Bentaygas have become. I remember a work colleagues friend bought one new for 215k and sold it about 2 years after for 160k. Crazy you can get them for 30k now

I'm sorry, but the runnng costs on any of these are going to be astronomical.  If you want to buy an older Luxury car, get one from the 1990's or older, preferably from a specialist for the marque.  Cars from these eras lacked the expensive electronics which will fail on newer cars at ruinous prices.  They will still have the leather and wood and overall luxury experience.  Usually, with better styling and more quiet elegance than the the newer, shoutier models.

I appreciate the random Saturday afternoon upload

I’m really enjoying your videos. Have you done one on what I call “pre-computer” cars, those cars that don’t rely on multiple ECU’s and simple to maintain but still fun to drive?

Don't forget the gallons to the mile!

amazing content as always, thanks JB

Your cheapest pick, the 2018 BMW M760i is the best one. I own one. Whenever anyone asks me which car; between my McLaren 720S, Mercedes AMG GTS or the M760i is my favorite?: I always point to the BMW. I swear, if I could talk all my friends into buying one used for $35k USD, I would.  Most reliable, quietest, smoothest, really quick, tunable to 800hp (I tuned mine). Even without a tune it is a hooligan in Sport mode. Handles like it is on rails and most comfy over bad roads. My wife has a 2018 BMW X5M and mine is quicker, quieter, smoother and nicer to drive than her car. BMW is one of Consumer Reports top reliability score brands, now. Deal with it, BMW haters!!

I agree....slower would be big improvement

I like way you do this with gearbox what about reverse gear being a wildcard

I'd say the Mulsanne is the best one. Gives you the most sense of occassion when you drive it and also the most road presence. People will often pull over a lane on the motorway when they see you coming. Bentley brand is some how seen as less "brash" than rolls royce now. But a step up from Merc or Audi. The last "true" Bentley as it was the last one with the 6.75 V8 engine.

40k for a Vauxhall Astra anyone who buys that must be insane 😊. The Mulsanne is sublime I’ve had 3 it’s properly hand built, I have an RR Ghost now but the Mulsanne is way better inside, but like other comments here if you can’t afford to repair them don’t buy, good tip though is to get an RAC Platinum warranty most costs are then covered

It’s insane how cheap the Bentayga is in the UK. In mainland Europe they are between 55k and 60k pounds.

Sorry, but at the speed you spoke, you are unintelligible in some parts of the video. Please slow down a bit!

Great video, very interesting Thanks 👍

These cars will be hugely expensive to run and maintain, plus impossible to park in the supermarket!
The sweet spot is to drop down from the S Class to the E Class, they really are as comfortable and refined. You can pick up a good W213 model which came out in 2016 for £12k. That is a £60k car! Or get them at 5 years old for 18k.  Get the very good diesel engine and it does up to 58mpg.
Running cost and servicing is no more than an Astra.
