Personally, as a bi guy, I don't really have a problem with girls enjoying mlm or yaoi. Just cause a girl enjoys reading gay romance doesn't mean she's gonna be disrespectful. I enjoy yuri and wlw and it doesn't mean I'm fetishizing or that I'm disrespectful to my lesbian/wlw friends. I just find the stories to be sweet and romantic. I read mlm/yaoi for the exact same reason. Straight romance can be great too of course but too often it's forced, weird and/or sexist. So I think anyone should be allowed to enjoy any story they want and not be immediately shoved into a box or judged based on stereotypes.
As an AFAB enby who has been in one-sided love with my male friend for over four years, it just now occurred to me that I am achillean.
I guess I kind of refused to let myself see it as gay because my crush is straight, but, the other day, I asked him what gender he saw me as before he knew about the concept of nonbinary (he didn’t know it existed before I came out to him), and he deadass went, “I never really thought about it.” and he’s known about my feelings for him since 2023, so I guess he’s just okay with someone being half-gay for him??? Also, I find it amusing that he just had a friend who he didn’t care to know the gender of for years.
