you know im starting to feel a little tiny bit that this Elon character might not be completely honest about other things besides gaming

It's funny because if Elon was just honest and said "yeah, I played Quake back in the day. I was just kinda okay and came in second in some obscure tournament no one remembers" he'd probably get a lot more gamer cred.

This gives me "I was first second generation Blizzard employee" vibes

Musk tells stories like a guy who practiced them in the mirror all night long

Liars always get so specific with details and make it so easy to disprove. Like if he'd just said "I used to play a lot of Quake, and I was pretty good at it. I played on a couple tournament teams, even." then it wouldn't be something you could immediately disprove.

Elon is like that kid in school whos girlfriend went to a different school 😂
Except his daddy gave him a lot of money and people actually started buying into the bullshit

i will never get over how a young elon musk looks like the bully kid from toy story

He's pretty much just flexing that he won a bronze rank championship

His diablo argument that he was the top player in the world was because had the 19th best score on a third party website on one specific challenge, which is like saying you're the "best arcade gamer in america" because you have the high score at a local arcade on Ms. Pac-man  (and only on Ms. Pac-man). Even without the fact his class was broken on that challenge, it's still ridiculous.

Oh and it wasn't him playing either, but even if it was it's still a ridiculous exaggeration. The guy can turn getting second at a random tournament into being "one of the best quake gamers in the world" and it's exactly the same kind of insane self-aggrandizing exaggeration that makes him go "I know more about rockets than anyone else, I made myself the leading world expert in a year by reading a few books".

Musk's greatest skill is getting credit for things he hasn't done and will never do. A lot of his fans act like it's inevitable he'll land on mars and give him credit for making civilization multiplanetary already. It's wild.

the only cool thing about Joe Rogan is that he is an OG gamer,  i believe in that very podcast clip where he talks about getting the cable installed he said he had to swear off gaming after that because he knew he would get addicted and tank his career.  Imagine how much different the world would be now if Joe gave into the gaming addiction and just wasted his life playing Quake DM.

elon's exceptionality in playing quake was using a corporate internet connection at the time, meaning he had the best ping, giving him an advantage compared to everyone else.

It’s crazy that Elon is so rich and influential that he could literally just be himself and he’d have a bunch of sycophantic followers who love him no matter what.

But his constant insistence on lying and trying to be the ultra nerd who runs multiple high tech companies and does a huge chunk of the engineering AND being the most up to date on all the games and nerdy media just comes across as fake.

Even people who like him can’t help but feel some type of way when they see him do stuff like this lol

"i dont know how many of you know this, and i barely mention it... but i used to work at blizzard" ty shiii

It's like the Wizard of Oz but every citizen is a mechanical engineer

This video is what my anxiety thinks my friends will do after I exaggerate any detail ever

I have a lot of free time, but even I leveled Disbalo 4 to a certain point and I was like, putting in more than this is a waste of my time

I miss when grifters like Elon just faked solving Rubix Cubes by reversing videos, or even simply yelling "look over there!" and pulling out a solved one. Definitely gave me confidence in their business acumen...

My coworker used to work at twitter where elon often goes to. Elon’s just playing games on his phone all the time during meetings and presentations. He fires people left and right. They had to survive by not drawing attention to themselves in front of Elon so him playing games is a good thing for the employees.

Ironic that nobody wanted to be Gluttony, when that ended up being an actual famous gamer tag for somebody

The crazy thing is, if he's been honest and said "I used to play Quake back in the day, I wasn't very good but I used to play on the same server as Thresh for a while", that would have been really cool.. But no, Elon HAS to be the best at everything I guess
